First run with the Evo

So I finally made it out to the track wed. night. Its the first time it was open for like month and a half, or two months (re-surfacing or something).

When I got there it wasn't that packed, but once they started letting people run, it started to get crowded. And the worst part was that they were having the 2 "fast" lanes run first, and like every other race, a car would break and they would have to go out and sweep or mop what ever spilled or fell off. It really sucked and took forever. Than they let all the bikes run probably 3 times each. All together, it took about 1 hour until the started letting everyone else run.

But I finally got to run and I feel did very well. It was my first big launch with the car and it felt really good, but I feel that my 60' could have been better. It was weird though, when I launched, I felt the whole car squat really hard, I mean it stood up really hard and just went.

The launch was around 4000 and I didnt dump it, kinda rolled out of it hard and kept the rpms up, dont think they went back down past 4000. I only got to do one run, just because now it was packed and it took so long to even get to the first run, so I went home after the first run.

But enough chatter, heres the time:

13.955 @ 100.39 w/ 2.213 60', reaction was a .387

And the car I raced was like a turboed festiva or something, not really sure what it was. It looked like a peice and was missing the front bumber, but the whole time I was thinking "I hope I beat this sh*t box".

and here is a pic of the slip, I'm 8050:

Congrats on your first run! You really need to work on those 60ft's though. Try launching at 5-5.5k next time with the same slip method. Not sure what other Evo's at your track run but if you get your 60ft's down to a 1.8 or so you should see some low 13's. Keep practicing

Not the worst time I've ever seen and atleast your trap speed is pretty good. Practice on more agressive launches and you will do much better. Take a look at all the IX owners that have posted in the last couple of days about their times. Just Last week, they all were doing 2.0-2.2 60fts, now just one week later they all are doing 1.8 60fts and lower. So keep at it.

i have bad 60fts too when i first started. best i could do with the rev limiter was 1.92. then i disconnected it and went out on a back road and just practiced launching. i had an srt-4 before my evo so it was a totally different world. then i cut into the 1.8's after practicing. then a friend on here told me to try reving between 5500-6000 and doing a quick slip of the clutch and bam! my best on the stock clutch was a 1.68 60ft. just practice and you'll get better within time. good luck.

Thanks for the tips, I will most likely be going out again this comming up wed., the 18th. I do want to get better with it as stock, because I have lots of parts just sitting in my room to go on. I want to be a better driver before I have a better car, basicly.
