I think 05 stock evo ECUs work pretty good with cams. After I put the cams in, I saw A/F ratio becoming much leaner so that I couldn't lean out anymore. Watch out for the high rpm range( after 7000rpm). It gets too lean sometimes even with the walbro fuel pump( I had to actually add more Maf value with my SAFC). My SAFC is now set near 0 now except around 6000 rpm range.
However, mid range is not that great with stock ECU. I think the mid range will greatly benefit from some tunning. But who needs the mid range on the track?
