4 new times, some good, some very bad

Went to the track again wed and had a great 1st run. But than I started missing gears, I don't know what was wrong with me. Here is a break down of the runs and the slips

1: Great launch and was against another evo, it had exhaust and I dont know what else

2: Missed 3rd and 4th?!?! so pissed And it started out as a slightly better run than the first too. this was v.s. a new 9 mr, he said it was stock but it looked like it had an exhaust

and the time between 2nd and 3rd runs I had like no cooldown time, they were about 10mins apart (hard to read the slip)

3: missed 2nd and kinda gave up, v.s. a 03 bodyish mustang gt that sounded supercharged, but not sure

4: this run it felt like the clutch was slipping bad, like the rpms droped to around 3000+ in 1st gear. But no missed shifts on this run and v.s. another evo that by the time had a good amount of stuff done. But the gay thing is that he flashed his hazards at the end of the run, ***.

And now I have the forge mbc in and did at the track, its set at about 19.5/20, and I was talking about shift points in another thread, but I retract about the shifting at or around 6000, now the taper is low and taking it to redline or past seemed to work the best.

Im 8050

LOL, heavily modded EVO flashing hazards on a nearly stock fellow EVO owner, that's sad.

Although not all your runs were great, it is good to see that your driving is improving. Just need to work on your launch and your shifting a little more and I could easily see you running low 13s@103-104MPH. Not bad at all for an untuned nearly stock 2003 EVO. Plus from what I read, Orlando is a slow track.

Yeah, I thought the tip looked different, but maybe thats what the stock 9's look like. I dont know, havent seen many. And hopefully from all the hard launches I have been doing I'm not messing up my clutch. It seemed a little "fadey" on the last run. Like it droped to around 3000.

Also, I over heard another evo owner saying that he had the act clutch and that it was making it pop out of 1st on the launch. Whats with that, I was kinda planning on getting one eventually.

oh yeh i talked to him about that, him poping out of first maybe due to his 1st gear syncro going bad or he just need to readjust his clutch.
as for u and your launch make sure u dont slip the clutch too long, it s very hard to get it right. U have to slip it quick, but not too quick or u ll bog the car, and if u slip i too long u ll burn your clutch and u will smell it ( u dont want that)
before i sold my 2005 evo 8 that was making 300+whp , i was running mid 12's all day with the stock clutch, 22k miles later before i sold it the clutch is still strong as new...so u see it s all about practice and the right timing

good luck

Well I havent smelled anything yet, and I am pretty sure that I know what it smells like. Maybe it was just hot or something, I dont really know how it works or if that could cause it. How often do you go out to the track? I will probably be going again in the near future. Might have exhaust in than too.
