Finally made it to the 1/4 mile

Well we finally made the drive to Montgomery last night to try our skills at the 1/4 mile. (EVO-8-Nate and I). My best run of the night was the following

1.822 60ft (New best for me)
7.936 1/8 (New best as well)
85.81MPH
10.325 1000
12.334 1/4
111.84

I will let Nate post his results up. We were pretty close the whole night though. I will post the slip up shortly.

12.3@111 is impressive with just a 1.8 60ft.. Must be a good driver, most driver's with 110-111 traps run 12.5< 1/4's

I am on the stock clutch with the limiter, and still figuring it out. I am getting closer to the more respectable 1.7 that I hope to get before the clutch comes out.

05WhiteEVO8,

Great job out there! We represented well in our EVOs.

I told you that the 10.5 hotside and 272/272 cams should even the playing field. Although I ran my worst 60fts last night, you and I were pretty much neck and neck. Great driving on your part and that added octane definately awoke your EVO, what octane level was it? I think I will mix a little next time just to see what the results are.

Your stock clutch seems to be a beast or you are just launching very well. I just couldn't find my normal sweet spot in my clutch for some reason, Barry re-aligned it and changed the engadgement point for me the day before, because of 3rd gear lock-out but I thought that I would be able to re-learn it after one trip down the track.

I hated leaving there early, after the accident our friend had, because our times got better each and every run. I definately had more time in my EVO with one of my more typical 1.6 or 1.7 60ft launches.

Great job again,

-Nate

Ah, so this was on race gas. YOu absolutely MUST mention that when posting 1/4-mile times. I would have expected that mph on pump gas, but on race gas, you can get upwards of 116mph on those mods. The driving is good, but continuing to launch with the limiter is probably messing you up. Maybe you'll get it figured out eventually, but I don't waste my runs, because they aren't finite. Despite the 1.8 60', the ET is still good.

I find it interesting how much difference there is in your 1/8th-mile MPHs and 1/4-mile MPHs. Very weird that you two were so different...

Same here on the race gas time in my sig. When I list 110oct, that's a 50/50 mix of 110 and 93, but the 93oct time is straight 93oct. That's how much of a difference it can make...

So warr, other than the launch what can you give advice on? I mean I shift very good (I think) and am wanting to get faster. Do you no lift shift? If so is it smart to do it on the stcok clutch?

Warrtalon,

Does it seem like my car died up top? I was only boosting 24psi but the 9.8 Hotside seemed to fall on its face in 4th gear. I just couldn't hook for reasons posted earlier!!!! But what do you think of my times with all things considered. I.e. sh$tty worst ever 60ft(s)...

That's really all there is to worry about. The launch is the single most important thing in drag racing. If you don't nail it, then you suffer greatly. The difference between your 1.82 and my 1.66 is HUGE, and it's not just the .16s time differential. A great launch compounds itself all the way down the track. If I even hit a 1.7x 60', I consider my run ruined. A 1.8 isn't even an option - it kills my times and usually my mph.

I only no-lift the 3-4. The 2-3 is sorta tough, but I do a half-lift. The 1-2 is a full lift snap-shift.

Yes, you only gained 20mph which suxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. That usually only happens on stock cammed cars that peak early. Even my stock-cammed 05 picks up no less than 22mph on the back-half. Yes, I have the 10.5, but I've seen plenty of 9.8s on here with big top-end due to their cams and cam gear settings.

If you had your same launch from before with the 7.85 1/8th-mile, though, you'd probably have run a high 12.1 or so.
