Oh so close to 9's...(Update)
Finally took out the Evo 3 to the first Sepang drag battle over here being the first event of the year. As mentioned in my earlier thread I was hoping to see if the car would hit a 9 sec pass which I was very confident that it would.
Anyway, I decided to run 30 psi of boost ( down 60 hp from the 36 psi I was running at 730 WHP ) as it was the first time running the M/T ET Drag slicks. ON the first qualifying pass the car hit a 10.3@146 mph. I must say launching the these tires were amazing and the previous auto cross semi slicks on 17's was no where near compared to these.
The Innovative data logger showed minor wheel spin in 1st gear although I did not feel it at all.
Hence I decided to sit out on the 2nd qualifying pass and waited to run on the quarter finals as my time took me to the top of the table. Airing down the M/T to 14 psi for better traction and raising the boost to 36 psi, I was about to prepare for my next run.
Very unfortunately the weather was not on our side as it started to rain and we ended the night without realizing that the next run would have nailed us the elusive 9 sec pass....
Still I am happy and glad we made it to realize that the car has a 9 in it if only I had the extra half and hour before it rained.... So close yet so far...
