Definately need some practice. I still suck at launching myself, but i'll show you what difference you can make.

pulled a 2.0 60ft with my mods, and ran a 13.02 @ 104

pulled a 1.9 60ft and ran a 12.7 @ 108

best i've pulled is a 1.8 but missed a gear so yeah lol

This is def the best answer. a bud of mine had a srt that he sunk a lot of money into, but he couldn't drive to save his life. My modded lancer would take his car right now(he moved to arizona). Just keep practicing. I ran a 14.7 in my car, then my friend scott pulled a 16.0 in the same car. Keep up the practice

--Disclaimer #1: No, i can't beat any srt in the world, only the one my buddy drives
--Disclaimer #2: i noticed you already said this(threadstarter), i am simplying agreeing with you

Yes, practice, practice, practice. I am not very good either, but have been trying to become more consistent. I wouldn't worry at all about before and after you get tuned. Unless you can run that consistent every time, it is not worth your time trying to figure out your before time and "after tune" time.

Just get tuned and keep practicing.

If you need help on launching, do a search and find some of the info Warrtalon posted. It is very helpful.

Think about it. If you get out of the hole faster you made up more ground in less time.. Thus you have less time to accelerate resulting in lower trap speeds.
EDIT: I have almost the exact same parts, but im custom tuned and ill be at the track on the 15th. I will let you know how i do.
Whoa whoa whoa, if you get out of the hole faster you made up more ground in less time, therefore you have less time to accelerate resulting in lower trap speeds? Wouldnt the fact that you are going faster(in mph) through the 60 ( which would be shown by your quicker 60 times) result in you being able to achieve a faster trap, because you are just straight up going faster?

Maybe I just don't get it but I think your post is either wrong or incredibly hard to understand

No, he's right in theory, but there's certain thresholds where it's true. It is in fact true, though unbelievable as it may seem, that there are cases where a QUICKER 60' will result in LOWER trap speeds. Say, if you run a 1.71 60' at 110mph, then you go next time and hit an amazing 1.65. You are almost 100% certain to have a quicker ET than the 1.71 60' as long as you don't miss shifts, but you are also likely to have a slower mph. It doesn't really make sense, but the only explanation is that you have less time to accelerate. Having a better 60' doesn't necessarily mean you have a higher mph at the 60' mark...just that your avg mph was higher.

However, with 2.2 and 2.4 60's, there is likely to be a huge gain in mph once he gets the 60's back to the 1.7-1.8 range. A 2.2-2.4 60' basically requires you to slowly roll off the line without launching...then bog for a second, then slingshot...this kills your trap speeds.

I guess i'm lucky on the VTA bov. Cause my car runs exactly the same Recirculated or Vented. hmmm.

I agree with that. Everytime i've dropped my 60ft my trap has increased. But then again in my old RSX-S my trap went down everytime I got better at the 60ft.

So who knows. lol

You just think it runs the same, but it doesn't. No matter what, there is metered air that is being expelled into the atmosphere, which means the ECU provides more fuel than is necessary. On 05s, we have a built-in mechanism that basically removes the symptoms of why it's a bad idea to run VTA, so you just don't know any better. There is no gain to running VTA, but there is much to lose, so it's absolutely senseless and juvenile to do it. Bad move...

Here are 2 time slips from last year with the mods in my sig to show the difference between a good launch and a bad one. These were both ran on the same day within hours of each other.

This is the first run I ever made in the car and I bogged it BAD!!

60ft 2.24
1/8 8.59
mph 85
1/4 13.2
mph 106

This is my best run to date and not only did the e.t. improve but the mph also.

60ft 1.68
1/8 7.79
mph 87
1/4 12.3
mph 108

So practice the launches, makes all the difference! Also wouldn't recommend driving your car that hard without a tune, your just asking for something to happen.

160+. My car was quite heavy last year too. '03 with sunroof, spare tire in, and no weight reduction.

You have to be shifting very slow the times suck even for the trap speed.
