but stock for stock, given equal drivers, a IX will outrun an VIII?
I've heard the IX was faster but i get the same from each side- ppl with the VIII says their cars are faster while the ppl with the IX say theirs are faster. i dont care personally, thats not why i bought the car. yes the evo is fast, but i bought it because my corvette can't execute many bumps or pot holes, or go grocery shopping before my patience just, goes right out the door. for once can someone tell me which is faster stock for stock (MR only), honestly?

You first need to realize that the IX's have a lot higher knock threshold than the VIII's do because of the revised cooling passages in the head. This enables you to run more boost SAFELY on the same octane. As for the 24-25psi keep in mind this is just a quick spike not a consistent pressure. Remember, boost is just one of the many aspects when it comes to tuning, so don't jump to conclusions and immediately think its a dangerous tune just because the car's running high boost. Many IX's SAFELY run slightly higher boost (24-25psi) than normal (22-23psi) because they aren't running as much timing, even on 91 octane!!!!
It's all about the tuning because you can run 22psi dangerously or 25psi safely and vice versa. Boost is just one piece of the pie!
