1st time at the track

well i went to atco dragstrip to watch my buddy run and they got me out on the track. didnt go as well as lets just say it didnt go well. i was hopeing for a 12 pass but got a 13.8 @104mph with a 2.0 60ft now thats said. it was 94 degrees out with near 100%hum i was luanching the car at 3.5k (didnt know about the 5k lim) and my dumass missed 2nd and had the a\c on full blast not even thinking about it. i havent been to a track in 3 years since i raced a car for a time slip (last car went 10.8@126mph 1.45 60ft on slicks) now i have noticed that if i shift after7k it doesnt go into 2nd but if i shift right before 6.8 6.9 i have no problem now i was flat shifting like in my old mustang could that be why its not going into 2nd and what do these cars like to shift at any way or any other advice

What mods do you have? Sounds like clutch lock out. And power-shifting, flat-shifting...not so good for Evos, but I have heard people using that tech. But I wouldnt recommend it.

Go here for the lock-out:

2.0 60' using 3.5k launch - not terrible, just think what a real 5k launch would do.

For what its worth, with my ACT clutch I cut 1.62-1.60 60's

Ill add - with the stock turbo 7k is as far as you should go when racing. Past that and you are out of the turbos range.

Not bad, that should be good for 12s in cool weather and lower humidity.

I made 318 @ TT with MBC @ 20 psi, intake, TBE, WB, and flash. And ran 12.8 @ 109 at Island Dragway. I did have my ACT clutch in by that time.

There is honestly no reason to shift after 6700-6800 rpm the car will not put out any more power after that. Now if you had a built 2.0 and were able to rev up to 10000 rpm that would be a different story. AS for the lock out yes shifting after 7000 rpm on a stock clutch will lock you out. Especialy if you have an ACT. When you launch from 5000 rpm which is the stock set 2 step on 05's and 06's boost awill build up 7-10 psi for a better launch. If you continue to shift after 7000 and miss gears you will destroy your tranny.

yea, a 2.0 for the first time aint to shabby. and youve definately got the right mods to run a good time. seat time is key. Seat time, and clutches.
