Finally broke 11's!!!!!!!!

Sorry so long just alittle excited.

Went to the track again yesterday to try and get into the 11's after my problems of a few weeks ago (thread on here somewhere). Track conditions were mid 60's, light wind, and 2250ft elev.

My car has the mods in my sig, stock 9.8 hotside, mail in flash, 92 octane, full interior, and sunroof.

My first run a got an ok launch but it didnt hook well. Ran the times below and new I was close.

60' 1.79
1/8 7.76
mph 90.57
1/4 12.08
mph 113.89

Second run tried shifting just alittle different and busted an 11!

60' 1.80
1/8 7.71
mph 91.5
1/4 11.98
mph 114.9

Needless to say I was very excited! However every run after that things kept getting worse and worse. It seemed every time I launched it took off and then nose dived before picking up again. All of my other 60' times were high 1.8's and 1.9's. Last year before the 2-step I was pulling consistant 1.6 and low 1.7's. This year the best has been a 1.77.

Im going to call Al and Dave this week to see if they have any suggestions on what might be happening. Anyone else ever have this happen? The car took off great and then about 20-30ft out it bogged horribly then took off again. I was thinking it could have been fuel starvation, less than 1/4 tank and gas light came on as I was leaving. Or maybe I was hooking to well and bogging as there was a ton of VHT on the track cause we were running at the same time as 8 and 9 second Pro Stock and Super Comp cars.

I know that with a good launch the car has alot more in it I just gotta figure out what is wrong with the launch. Oh well at least I can say I run 11's

I held 1st gear alittle longer, shifted at about 7400rpm instead of 7000. I also NLTS on the second run 2-4th gears.

Yeah I really wish I knew what was up with my launches. Not sure if it was a track issue or if there is something wrong with my car. No matter what I did it just died off the line, and thats with the 2-step. With a 1.6 I feel it could have gone 11.7-11.8 fairly easy, it pulls so much harder up top now.

Anybody want to donate a 10.5 hotside to a good home?

You just had better traction. You might need to slip the clutch just a hair longer.

Fuel starvation wouldnt be a problem unless you have had the light on for at least 10 miles before the run.

Ooh a fellow Idaho evo racer. What track do you race at?

Oh and congrats, that makes you the third stock turbo evo in idaho I know of to hit 11s. Didn't have my stock turbo on long enough to even really try.

This was at Spokane Raceway. A horrible track but its all we've got. Im hopng to take a trip over to Seattle to race at Pacific later this summer to see how low I can get it with the stocker. Numerous people have ran at Spokane and at Pacific and saw a .3-.4 improvement!
