I went to the track not planning on running at all. But my buddy with the cobra has been bugging me to run him so i did. I was just worried about the clutch frying on me. The thing i don't like about the hallman is that with temp change the boost either goes below or above set boost. I take back the whole "hallman sucks!" thing. haha MY BAD! like i said I ONLY RAN ONCE! I wanted to run a few more times but not until i get a new clutch and my tune this weekend at AMS. the clutch seems to be holding up fine on the street. the first thing i noticed on my galant vr4 when the clutch was going bad was that in 5th gear cruising, when i gave it gas to pass a car the revs would jump but the car wouldnt move. Is this what a typical slipping clutch on an evo would do also? i'm def going to have to read up on warrtalon's thread about launching. thnx for everyone's help and making me confident i can run a much better time with my mods and more practice ( except jasil, i'm not 18, don't post b.s responses on my threads n stop bein a tool). thnx again to everyone else

No prb Silva,

With the AMS tune - I believe they can set your 2-step (launch control). Ask them about it. I love my 05 2 step.

Are you removing the clutch restrictor pill from the clutch line? I recommend this also, it will be easier to launch when done.

Yes, 5th gear - 40 mph, try to go WOT, if it spins and you go no where - slipping.

Good luck, and happy racing.

HELP
Interesting Point here, I ALSO ended up 'Around' the top of fourth also (Ran 99mph in a New Stock IX), perhaps MY Clutch was slipping...might explain my Lack of MPH!!!

And I know how ya feel, a BUNCH of my Muscle Car Club buddies (20 or so) witnessed my Pathetic 13.9@99 and the Bad thing is they Now think the IX's are a Slow *** JOKE, and are Convinced THATS what they run!!!

And really Considering an Experienced Drag Racer like myself (20+ years racing) can't just Get In and ripp off a Good Pass with these cars I'm ALMOST inclined to agree with them!!

dont worry about that launch. like you said you only got 1 run nad you had your self worried about the clutch.yes that is exactly how a blown clutch on an evo would be like. i blew the clutch on my 03 twice from beating the s*** out of it and learned my lesson for my 06. anyway it may just be me but what some people said on the last page was pretty f****d up. do your self a favor and dont listen to the negitivety on here. it will only get you caught up in it.just keep practicing and youll get sooner or later.

Let them think that It took me some time but I can drink a cup of coffee and pull a 1.6x 60'

The weather/boost issues is hard to get away from... some high dollar ebc's might compensate ... but this is why I got the hallman with the cockpit controller. Temp changes here can be as much as +/- 30 degree's

thnx for all the positive feedback. Ya some ppl can be dicks but everywhere you go they're there too. I read up on most of the launching threads and i'm going to try the 5500 slip method. Sounds like you slip for a quick second or two and dump. Just hope my clutch holds up while i find a good replacement. Any good suggestions Smikeevo: Does AMS include 2-step in their flash? I sure as hell hope so, Thnx again for everyone's help

If your looking for something inexpensive you can go with an ACT street disc for around 500-600 dollars. If you have the extra money to spend you can go with something like an EXEDY twin disc for about 1200 dollars. What ever you decide good luck.

2.6 60"? You could have done a 2.3 by just taking off normally and flooring it. That is what I did since the first time (and only) time I ran my car was with stock clutch and 50k+ miles on 378whp. Launching was NOT an option, so I just took off quick and nailed it in first. My best with a 2.1 was 12.44. Now that I have my ACT its time for 11s

Yes, my OEM clutch help up for 52,000 miles. I had the ACT installed last month. I have not visited the track yet with it as I have 2 boost leaks I have to fix. Once those are fixed and the weather cools down to 60-70, Im going to go. Haha on the avatar lol
