A lighter wheel/tire combination will help with 60ft, mph, and maybe ET. As far as if it's signififcant - who knows until someone tries it. You can allways loose 0.2 seconds with a good set of shifts. I allways miss second.

Two of the tires on my stock enkeis have little thread left on them. The other two tires are in great shape. Would this matter on a dragstrip since its already sticky?

It matters if you are spinning. Are you spinning? If not, then it doesn't matter. It's common sense.

Im spinning with my current tires. 235-40-18. Rev limiter is set at 6k. I think i might be dropping the clutch too fast.

You'll have better luck with a smaller rim even if it's the same weight... I spin like crazy off the line and still pull at least 1.75 60's. Your time is pretty decent considering the trap speed.

I have lighter 18's than the stock wheels.. I went 12.8 on stock wheels. Cut a WAY better 60' with the 17's the car just seems hard to get going when on 18's. Rember I dont really have any engine mods. Just weight reduction and suspension

I found a timeslip of mine... I normally hit 4th gear and in this run I let off around 7600 in 3rd.

Question is how did you pick up 27mph in the back half with stock turbo?

I went again to the track last night and i improved my times. The things i changed were, lowered tire pressure to 28psi from 35psi, dumped 2 gallons leaded 104 octane to my 2 gallons of 93 unleaded octane, and turned up the boost to 25psi. My previous best time was
60 ft 1.871
330 ft 5.415
1/8 et 8.369
1/8 mph 84.63 This was the best slip. All the rest ranged up to 8.6's that night.

My new best is
60 ft 1.853
330ft 5.312
1/8et 8.215
1/8mph 86.17
And i think i ran a 8.19 too. But the lady could not find my slip. I just cant get my 60ft to go lower than 1.85. Im gonna look into some drag radials for the stock enkeis.

You don't need drag radials. You just need to learn to launch. There are cars that are far, FAR more powerful than you that cut 1.5-1.7 on regular street tires. Are you spinning or not? If you are, then lower the tire pressure more. You can't just pick a psi and go. You have to constantly tweak and change through the night until you find that optimum setting.

Hell depending on the track and tires I was wheel spinning at 25psi front and 26 rear on the stockers. Like warr said you have to constantly mess with your tire pressures.

[QUOTE=justchil]What was the weather like?

It was about 80 degrees. My 2step is set at 6krpm. My rear tires are in good. My front are worn in from the inner area. These are 245-40-18. I do hear my tires squeel when launching. Next time i'll try lowering the pressure more. And i'll try the stock enkeis too. If that dont cut me a shorter time, then i think my 2step is set too high. I have read alot of you guys slip the clutch fast when launching. Some of you claim that when the evo barely moves forward, you drop the clutch. I have never been in another evo while being launched but i slip the clutch fast and have never had the burning smell.

Proof that 18 inch wheels are for good looks, not good performance.
