My Best Times by Far.. *Videos*

Went back to the track today at PRP near Pittsburgh. My previous best time was 13.03 @ 105. Since then I installed a torque dampener & fixed a few small boost leaks. Today was also 20 degrees cooler, but 600 feet higher, and I was running about 22.5psi on 100 octane instead of 20 on 93.

First run:
60' - 1.801 (slipped the clutch too much)
1/8 - 7.96 @ 88.6
1/4 - 12.39 @112.2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-EgTTh0Hdc (low quality)

Second run I didnt get a damn timeslip. The lights screwed up. Pisses me off since Im 90% sure this was my best run of the day. My GTimer read 12.17 @ 112.7. The run before it was .07 fast and usually is within a tenth. So I figure it was about 12.25 @ 112. Damn it.

Third run:
60' - 1.697
1/8 - 7.88 @ 88.3
1/4 - 12.33 @ 111.4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beRUyb24Lw4 (low quality)

My 0-60's on the GTimer were also all under 4 seconds for the first time (3.73, 3.58, 3.85). I thought that was pretty cool, beat my previous best by a full second.

Mods are BR stage 2, FG LICP, ingalls TD, & RRE No Name Clutch. That clutch stunk after every run, though it never slipped. I still have the restrictor pill in too.

If the guy I talked to today with the red stage 3 evo is in here, I have a good video of you running 12.22 @ 112.

Oh yeah? I never really thought about that... I usually just feather the throttle until the lights come down then floor the gas on the first yellow. I think I leave the line with about 11 psi with the 2-step at 6K.

I had a mix of Sunoco 94 and Torco that would have yielded 100-101 octane. I had never used that stuff before but was really surprised to find out how well it worked.

I run 20 psi on the street, so I thought I would try 23-24 with the Torco mix. Well, I hit fuel cut at about 5000 rpm in 3rd gear at 23 psi and 45 degrees outside. I ended up running a spike at 22 psi settling to about 20.5. So, I wasnt running that much more boost than normal. The car definitely seemed to run smoother more than stronger, though I could tell it pulled a little better.

I run my GTimer at the track every time and it showed some interesting differences. On pump gas, the car seemed to wimp out a bit in the top of first after a good launch. 0-30mph was 1.2 before while 0-40mph was 2.2. This time, 0-30 was 1.1 but 0-40 stayed down to 1.7. These were with the same shifting and comparable 60 foots (1.69-1.75). In the last half of the track, I was running 60-110 as fast as I was running 60-100 before.

All I have to say is that if you cant get your hands on race gas, Torco is the next best thing. I got a can for $23 shipped. If you're looking to run 100 octane, one can will get you about 14-15 gallons mixed with 93.

No, you don't need to build more boost. Many of us didn't even have the option of using launch control for a while and cut plenty of 1.6 60s. YOu also do not want to hold it on the limiter for too long, or it might throw a code and stop working altogether. Just get it on the limiter right before it's time, then launch soon after. Boost or no boost, it doesn't matter - you just have to feather the clutch properly with the RPMs at the right level.
