3rd gear? Gimme a break. You don't have anywhere near the power to do that. I use blizzaks in the winter and have even drag raced on them, and I didn't chirp them in 2nd either even on a cold 40-degree track in Denver. I was running 12.3-12.4s and powershifting the 1-2, so these chirping claims are a bit much, imo. Even after adding alky at sea level before I moved, I had 361wtq, and I could only chirp 2nd occasionally on the street. No chance on a drag strip with VHT and certainly not on a stock Evo...

mhgsx, yeah if you burn the clutch and stay in it then shift fast, it keeps burning it through the next gear. I had one run this year on my Exedy 4-puck where I tried to launch from 7k with a hard slip to see if it could take it, and the clutch slipped in every gear all the way through the traps for a 12.7@103. The rest of my runs were low 12s in the 108-109 range, so I'm sure my clutch was hating life during that run...

No, a lighter set of wheels won't raise the trap speeds much, if at all, but they may help with the launch.

FWIW, when I was running my contisport snow tires, I was able to chirp second gear, and sometimes third depending on the road surface and incline of the road.

Its not that hard to believe that a chirp can be heard.

Altitude can't be more than 200' (GLD in WI)
Temp: mid 40's w/ very light winds

All runs using the stock 5K 2-step

1st run

60': 2.545
330: 6.708
1/8: 9.819 @80.24 mph
1000: 12.505
1/4: 14.732 @102.01 mph

Ended up doing 6 runs total, with each run getting faster and quicker.

Last run:

60': 1.832
330' 5.486
1/8 8.523 @80.75 mph
1000 11.128
1/4 13.298@104.45 mph

I don't really know how much lower I can get the 60' using the stock 5K limiter.
Also, doesn't it seem that the 1/8 mile is a bit slow? The 1-2 shift was at 7K, and the 2-3, 3-4 shifts were at 6.8K. With mine being among the last of the IX to come off the factory (built in Aug), I noticed max boost would quickly drop to 16 psi.

Any comments welcome. I'm looking for advice for shift points, etc.
They suck

Don't worry - you'll figure it out

Yeah, I'm probably just not a good shifter then. With 341whp/361wtq, I couldn't chirp any gear, but Evil Evo here can do 3RD GEAR with signficantly less power. He must be a great shifter, which is why I beat him by .3s in the 1/4 with the same trap speed, yah? He doesn't make anywhere near enough power to break tires lose going into 3rd. That's just ridiculous...

Look, i ran 12.5@110 with only a tbe, mbc, flash and o2 housing on pump!!! Didnt you trap that on race gas and a bunch of other mods than me? I was still learning how to launch the car at the time also and this was LIFTING ON EVERY GEAR

If you still dont believe me about my 3rd gear chirp then so be it but you can ask anyone here that has been in my car and they can tell you how i shift...

If you are so good then why are you still in the 12s with cams and meth? Ill hit 11s before you do on pump when i get cams, i gurantee it

I dunno maybe its just me but your trap speeds seem way off. I mean look at your runs. You first ran a 9.8 in the 1/8 and your trap is 80 while your best run was 8.5 in the 1/8 and your traps are the same not to mention your overall trap speeds were only a difference of 2 mph and you ran a over a whole second faster.

Also to answer your question, yes you can cut a 1.7 60 on the stock 2 step. I did it plenty of times. I also cut a 7.7 @ 90mph in the 1/8 on a crappy track with stock tires with a few bolt ons that didnt cost me over 1400bucks.

Not ot get into the argument but let me shed some light on the situation. While you are at sea level he is at 6000ft. There is a major difference between the 2. I am quite certain if warrtalon was at sea level he would a broken into the 11's long ago.

Cheap tires inflated to 60 psi running on smooth city tarmac and you'll chirp just like a redneck in his 5.0 mustang.

Breaking traction threshold from a 1st gear roll to me is more fun than making squeeking noises

Also, tire wear and alignment might play a part in one car chirping and the other not.
