First Night at the Track! Happy, But not Satisfied!
Well i also have a IX MR and i am stock, just full exhaust...
R/T..... .560
60'.....1.916
330'....5.520
1/8.....8.470
MPH....83.64
1000....11.036
1/4....13.180
MPH...105.63
This was with the best launch i could do... i reved it when 1st light flipped, 2 light hit the 2 step, 3rd light start coming off clutch slowly, go light - drop the clutch. then from there on i would come off the gas about 3/4 of the way when shifting, my buddies said they saw flames shoot out a few times
never missed a gear, shifted into 5th right at the end billboard because my rpms where around 7300..
Well i hope that helped, prolly wont... the best way to learn is to do it.. if i was you i would of praticed launching the **** otta the stock clutch..b4 i upgraded to a 6puck...

Also for the guy who said i wasnt tuned..
i got a quick free flash from a local good tuner.. he just did it relaly fast to make up for not being able to install my turbo when i wanted it done.

my time could of been alot better but hey! it was my first time lol
Being at 7300 right near the end of the track is not a reason to shift. I wonder why the newbie IX MR owners keep thinking they need to shift. This was never an issue when the 05 MRs came out until people were hitting the rev limiter before the traps (110+).

yo warrtalon, what if i paid u to teach me how to race, would u do it? lol
Your only 17 and putting on a GT35? I guess your parent bought the car for you, right? I would suggest for you to not to proceed with the GT35 and use that money on a HPDE, which you probably can't do without your parents permission. Trust me your parent will be a whole lot happier if you stick with the stock turbo.........six months from now........
GT35+17 years old=not good!

We've already given him grief for that. The Evo was a gift, and he took out a loan for the GT35R - not smart, but whatever.
Sure, if you fly me down to Florida, I'll run some mid to low 12s the way the car is now and teach you how to duplicate it.

those times aren't bad for your first time to the track. espically considering all the problems you said you were having.
It good to see such a young kid racing on the track where its safe instead of the streets. I think its funny though how your parents were all hesitent about letting you drag race your car but have no problem with you installing a 35r.
I do know that if I was 17 and had an EVO w/ a 35r on it, I wouldn't be here now. I'm pushing 28 now with a gt35r EVO and I still have a hard time controlling the car, no joke.
IMO you would be much better off sticking with a stock turbo car & bolt-ons. You will still have pleanty of power on tap, more then enough to get in trouble with.
Think abou it dude, you crashed an f'in pirus in the rain! How fast do you have to go in order to lose control in a freakin pirus, the answer is PRETTY FAST.

so ur saying that when im at 7300 revs in 4th ... done with the run... just let the rpms fall from there? i just think it would be less stress on the engine to shift into 5th... and i am hitting the rev limiter RIGHT @ the trap.

Let it fall from there? No, you just keep accelerating with your foot planted. You are worried about stress on the engine when drag racing? If so, then why even bother? Of course revving high is more stress than revving at 5500, but we're talking less than a second here. If you want your best possible, then leave it in 4th. If you want to not stress your motor, then don't race. Our motors can handle 8000rpm easily even when completely stock, so I wouldn't be worried about pulling to 7500 for a split second on the drag strip. Hell, I rev that high on the road almost daily whenever it's safe and clear (not in 4th, but lower gears).
You should not be hitting the rev limiter at the finish line unless you're trapping 110+, and if your rev limiter is still stock, you should get tuned and raise it to 7800. Shifting to 5th will always hurt you.

Yea a little background about my self, i had n evo ix mr, and i was into street racing with it.. that was my first evo ix mr.. and i totaled it.. after that i havent driven crazy a day in my life, after htat ive always been interested in the drag strip rather than on the street from a roll, or a dig.
i plan on learning my car for another week, maybe a few more passes at the drag strip before installing the gt35r, but when its installed ill be sure to be EXTRA carful on the street.. i might even get a real bad beater to daily drive, so that i only have the evo for the weekends and drag strip..
but your deff right about stock turbo.. but hey, if i can handle hte power, ill deff know it right off the bat, and have my tuner make it slower so i can learn how to handle the power, bit by bit
but you do have some very vaild points! thank you

Hey pureplayer, you have to excuse warrtalon, he has been dealing with the same stuff for god knows how long so answering the same questions over and over again just get tiresome for him. However, its good advice so just listen and learn.
However, the best advice anyone can give you is you need practice. And of course you need to know how and what to do.
