First Night at the Track! Happy, But not Satisfied!
Well as most of you know, Right now im awaiting Intercoolers to come in at billet design before i can have about 80% of the mods in my Sig installed.. As of tonight i have:
Buschur Filter
Megan Down pipe
Megan Test pipe
HKS hi power exhaust
HKS BOV
ACT Pressure plate
ACT 6 Puck
ACT Prolight Flywheel
And a quick free reflash (+1 to marco)
So pretty much im not to far from stock..
So tonight i went to Moroso with a few friends, my GF, and of course.. my parents.. Being 17 im not allowed to race at the track unless i get there signature and its noterized, or it signed infront of the track people.. so my parents went down there to see what it was all about, and they knew how bad i wanted to race.. And i keep telling them let me do it, lemme do it.. and they wouldnt budge, after my friend in his cobra ran 2 runs i thought all hope was gone when they said ok u can go, but only one race! (At this time its close to 10, and they close at 11.. so 1 race woulda been what i would of gotten anyway) So as excited as i was, i ran to my car, got it teched and got in line after the parents filled out all the info.
It took about n hour of sitting in line (cleaning up track for last run) before they finally called us at around 10:45.. blah blah..
So i got up to the line with my heart pounding like CRAZY.. i mean i was nervious lol.. First time drag race not knowing exactly how things are gunna go.. but knowing i have good driving skills.. Well I hit n Awsome 2-step launch, and it felt like my tires spun a little.. BUT i only got a 2.004 60'? I was OK with that.. Hitting all of my shifts PERFECT EXCEPT 4th gear.. The clutch locked me out of the gear (Warrtalon had the same exact problem with the same exact clutch!) So i missed the gear first time, n got it in after letting off the clutch n getting back on it (LOST TIME!
) THEN Being that i have n MR i had to go to 5th (MORE LOST TIME
) But for my first run ever.. i was completly happy with how i ran!
SORRY FOR THE LONG STORY!
Anyway, any imput on this would be awsome! and any coments are ok
Any comments on how to improve are greatly appreciated also, and if someone could tell me.. If i adjust the clutch will it no longer lock me out of 4th? or did i waste all that money on the clutch + install for nothing?
THANKS for reading!

it depends really i dunno on that 1.......what i usually do when launching my boys evos at the track is..... i usually drive 05-06's with 2 step so....i put it in 1st rev it up let it hit 2 step when the lights go i wait til like the 1st between the 2nd let the clutch out a little to wear u feel it about to inch forward and when the 3rd light hits just dump the clutch usually got 1.6-1.7's from that
1) Imput is not a word.
2) Now you have first-hand experience of how people always claim they know how to launch when in fact they have absolutely no clue. If that launch felt like "an awesome 2-step launch," then you now know that you have never felt an awesome launch, because a 2.0 is what FWDs do. It is almost no launch at all. You can't expect to know how to do it when it was your first time, so that's not the problem. The problem is thinking it was an awesome launch - you have to realize it was terrible.
3) Same with the shifting. You claim you have "good driving skills" based off less than 2 years of driving on the street? How can you think you hav egood driving skills when you've never raced before? Please do not base your opinions of yourself off what you've done on the street. The shifting likely was FAR from perfect - I don't know how you can make that claim on your first ever run. You can't even know what "perfect" is yet when you've never done it - it takes time to learn the optimum RPMs at which to shift for each gear and how to shift extremely fast at that RPM.
4) Having an MR doesn't mean you have to shift to 5th. What gave you that idea? Reading posts on here or what? You can trap 110-111 with the 6spd, and you only trapped 102, so you weren't near the point where you'd need to shift to 5th.
5) In the end, a 13.3 is not bad, but it does not add up with the 60' and MPH. I know you missed 4th, which killed the MPH, but it should have killed the ET, too, especially with the extra shift to 5th.

The timer starts when the light turns green, but your ET is not affected by this timer - it only matters when competitively racing (bracket or heads up). Your ET timer doesn't begin until you trip the laser.

2) your right it wasnt n AWSOME launch, but like i stated it was my first time, and i was infact a little nervious
3) my shifts were actually really smooth, and actually very fast, althou they may not be warrtalon shifts, i shift pretty fast for being on my skill level (im still a begginer in this race game lol)
4) Your probably right i didnt need to shift to 5th right there, but once again it was my first race, and i will watch my rpms* and mph much better next time
5) thanks! i will deff practice w/ the launch, as for the mph, the missing 4th deff caused it.. i have the warrtalon/act clutch syndrom.. i got completly locked out of the gear. and next time ill be more conscience on wether or not to shift to 5th.
