First good times at the Track

Don't get to go to the track often, but here's my 5 runs for the day ( My brothers Evo was experiencing massive clutch problems, so I was helping him alot, so only belted out 5 runs. Also, all this on a drop in filter only, no tuning, no nothing.)I'm car 62.

First- VS an old S10 I think. Chalk this one up to nervousness, haven't been out in a while.

Second run- Raced my brothers 06 EVO IX ( look at his times, you can see how poorly his clutch was performing, his mods with the right clutch should be easy mid 12's)

Third Run- VS Camaro Z28. Loved this run, my reaction still sucks, but I got through the gears pretty well.

Fourth Run- They started Bracket racing, this is versus an 06 WRX, god braket racing is annoying sometime ( I was off but 6 thousandths of a second, but since I did better I lost)

Final Run- VS a Civic, don't think he did much, but it was funny that he ran better than the WRX( Non bracket racing)

Over all, a very fun day. My brother adjusted his clutch and ran a 13.1 without trying ( still having major problems.) Let me know what you guys think.

Ah, my old stomping grounds at Coastal Plains. I learned to drag race right at that track in my '90 Talon (12.1) while stationed there. You did ok. The best part is the 105mph trap, but I'm very curious how you trapped 100 and 99 but then 105 all the sudden without the ET improving. Were you hitting the brakes early on the other runs? The 13.2 @ 99 makes no sense at all, but you're doing alright. You just need to learn how to launch, and you'd have yourself a 12-sec car stock!

Glad you had fun, best part of racing, and nice times considering the decent 60's, work on those and 12s are around the corner, the mph are kinda screwy though, care to explain???

The explanation is the radar things are off maybe? A couple of them was with a better launch with not as good shifting I guess, And slipping the clutch all the way kind of hurts launches ( what can I say, trying to avoid drivetrain damage, keeping it on the clutch, which will be replaced eventually.) Honestly, I have not the slightest idea how the speed went up to 105 and I still ran a 13.3, I might have hit the brakes early, I know the 6 speed is right on 7k at the end, so I hit the brakes the moment I pass the end.. Now, 13.29 is wierd for 99 mph? The speed should be higher I assume, I don't know why it ran that, alot of people say that track has some issues sometimes. Yea, I only get to run maybe once every month honestly, I've been avoiding it since the car hasn't gotten any new performance parts ( I had to fix another car, so didn't have the budget.) But I decided to go out today, and it was a beutiful day out, over all fun. Hope I could get into the 12's with the stock car, but that's really friggin fast though, getting a 12 second run on the stock car? ( well, I have an air filter, but that doesn't really count, does it? I got it as a supporting mod for other mods to come.)Yea, my launches and reaction needs some work, but I chalk that up to inexperience. Hopefully get back out there sooner than later.

Don't think of it as running 12s on a stock car. Think of it as having a car that traps 105+, which is easiy a 12-sec car with a good launch. Don't let the "stock" factor defeat you mentally.

Reaction time has no effect on your ET, so don't worry about it at all unless you're doing this competitively. On that note, I won my very first bracket race ever at that very track. It was awesome taking home $200 and a trophy on the first try with a 5spd. I probaby didn't win another for the next 20 tries, though, hah.

You trapped 108 completely stock? Not sure I believe that either. That indicates at least 290whp. Also, you said 12.92 with a great launch. To hit a 12.92 with a 108mph trap, you'd have to have a terrible launch.
