I launched the car from the 6k two step last night. the ground was a little wet though so it was hard to tell if it was clutch spinning or tires. BUT since there was no smell I am guessing it was just tires. felt fine after and today. no problems. I am going to try it again in the dry. I figure with increased tq as long as the clutch can hold it ok, the wheels shoudl spin a llttle taking some of the beating off the clutch. 330lb/tq and at 6000rpm the car is making about 11psi off the two step. is it better to keep your foot planted on the gas when coming off the clutch on a launch or work the clutch and throttle? I could see where working clutch and throttle could lead to cooked clutch.

just realese your clutch pedal very fast with your foot on the pedal dont side step wheelspin is good cause it saves your drivetrain and clutch dont slip your clutch or you wont have one very soon!
check this videos out this is how they do it in japan:

they just rev it up and release the clutch pedal and boom your off!

Took 18,000 miles and many launches and much spirited driving to kill the stocker.

As soon as I added timing and boost with W/M, the stock clutch gave in immediatly since the little 16G VIII spools on an instant. Clutch was old but still holding fine beforehand. With new clutch holding at peak torque, I worry about crank/rod bearing stress so I keep everything lubed with fresh oil but this is way off topic and nobody really cares about how fresh my cranckcase is anyhow.

Nevertheless, my point is torque at high RPM (horsepower) will not stress the clutch as bad as lower RPM high torque numbers (peak). So go ahead and run the GT35R kit and run 11's with stock clutch to surprise ppl, but everyone I see running that turbo has already upgraded the clutch, again I go OT.

Still on my stock clutch not sure how many more passes I will get but it's still holding great I know for sure it's going I think it may have been slipped too hard at the dealer or by the trucker during the delivery. But one twin disc comming up

You have 7 Million miles on your car? That has to be some kind of record.

I have 13K and lots of racing this summer, never smelled clutch once.

Just under 20k on my mine with 325awhp with a bunch of launches and it still feels great. As long as your nice to it and launch right when your racing it will be good for a decent amount of time. It all depends on the driver.

I konw peteyturbo was throwing down 12.00 on a stock clutch in his MR. and stock two step. he has a ton of passes on his and it still held up. anyone else having that kind of luck with theirs? i want to go out and try the launch with the raised two step and added power, just worried about glazing the clutch and killing it before I can afford a new one. BTW the new two step has been set to 6000rpm.

I'm still running the stock clutch! She still pulls very strong! Just learn how to launch without burning the clutch (or just a very slight burn that isn't detectable), and you'll be fine for a while! But if you're going to increase power, you might have to change the clutch! I don't use the 2 step, just rev it up and down between 5 ~ 5500 rpm and a nice quick slip will give you < 1.75 all the time!
I average 1.72 usually! I just have a flash so far and run an average of 12.65 seconds with that launch!
