rim size and drag racing????

ok this might be a stupid thread but what is the best rim size for drag racing and highway pulls. 17inch or 18inch.

its going on an evo with about 450hp and shooting for low 11 sec 1/4 mile times.

what rim size and tire size would be best to make this happen. or help it to happen.

what size are you running rim/tire and what are your times also. thanks

also im keeping the stock brake's and rotor size if that matter's

My guess would be lighter & wider is better.... so in general, 17 is better than 18

Most people on EvoM use 18's for looks and 17's for track/drag... less rotating mass, you can slam the car more... etc. etc.

i understand what your saying.

im thinking the smaller the rim the faster they will spin. the biger the less they will spin. i just figured there was a good size to want to have for different types of car's. like drag or track.

You generally want 17s with nice rubber for drag racing, but that's because our brakes are too big to go smaller unless you change the brakes. A 15 or 16" rim with nice rubber would be best only for drag racing. I will not answer for "highway rolls."

Dan, when are you going to be making 450whp? Getting a 50-trim or 3065?

don't go wide, use the stock wheels and jam some bfg drag radials on there, sticky tire with hard sidewall sucks for drag racing, you want a sticky tire with soft sidewall...

Yeah, you're confusing autox/circuit tires with drag tires. NT-01s are r-comps designed for racing on a track. They are not good for drag racing, and be sure not to use them as a daily driver. Get some dedicated DRs on stock, used rims or something like that.
