First runs at Moroso with new Evo

I got the car about two weeks ago and did a bunch of searching around here on the forums. I decided to go to the track last night (Moroso) and I got a couple runs in. Car is stock except for an air filter.
I was launching off the stock limiter at 5k. All shifts were done at 7k. I know the 60 fts need work but here are the time slips.

First run:

60'- 2.011
330- 5.657
1/8- 8.695
mph- 81.62
1000- 11.336
1/4- 13.544
mph- 101.41

Second run:

60'- 1.960
330- 5.633
1/8- 8.670
mph- 82.51
1000- 11.327
1/4- 13.550
mph-100.76

I got a third run in but I bogged. Overall I'm very happy with the car and I can't wait to start modding it.

That would be "you're."

It's not a matter of being nice or not. I'm just letting him know those runs suck but that he can improve if he keeps practicing.

errr..

I'm not hating but I think somthing between 1.6 and 1.8 60 is where its at. Those times could be better if you didn't granny shift. And launch better.

I'm not one to say. I've only street dragged

I'm so hypocrit

I saw a white Evo with exhaust and a front mount, and I think there was a grey mr also. I dont know if they were youre friends or not. I lined up next to the grey one but he broke or had to shut it down early for some reason. I didnt get a chance to talk to them because they left right after the run.

I know the 60 foots need work, thats why I clearly stated it. I've only launched the car a total of 5 times now, gimme a break. If anyone would like to give me some more helpful advice I'd appreciate it.

More helpful than telling you to learn to launch and shift? There's not much else unless you want details on how to do both of those things. If so, check out some of my threads with vids and explanations on how to do it.

I already did that and I know how to shift. You're stuff was actually pretty helpful. I was just looking for some extra tips or advice on launching. I know obviously with practice it will get much better.

There's not that many tips. Once you've reviewed the tips, you just have to get it down pat. Knowing how to shift is not the same as knowing how to shift extremely fast. Do you already shift like this?

That is a cool in car cam vid,That is a 8.9 out of 10 on shifting.. but sorry I def shift a little faster then that.. No joking.. I will have to set a in car cam to prove it.. But that is a hell of a video for rookie drivers to see!

Yeah, ok. Helluva vid for rookie drivers to see.

Anyway, regardless of how fast you shift (or think you shift), my post was directed at the thread originator.

I appreciate the vid and yes I'm very familiar with this shifting. I just came from an srt4 and power shifted (no lift) it at the track all the time. I dont feel comfortable doing it in the Evo with the stock clutch right now.
Is that your vid? If so did you get that gauge cluster from 42 draft design or whatever it's called? I know we've been over this and I know I need to practice alot more, but do you think a higher 2 step right now would help drop the 60' alittle?

Yes, it's me, but that's the stock Mitsu gauge cluster that comes on the MR and RS.

The 60' problems you're having are not because of where the 2-step is. You just have to learn how to get the car moving. We didn't even have 2-steps available when I first started racing my Evo. You don't need one at all to launch - it just helps with consistency. However, I think the stock 5k is too low, so either raise it or remove it by disconnecting the switch under the dash.

Oh ok, didnt know that. I'm planning on getting a flash so I'll raise it then. I appreciate all your help man.
