Drag racing tips

Here is a useful video done at Gateway in StL. I know for most folks that getting the launch down in the Evo is the biggest thing to get down, but after you've got that you may be looking for every 1/10th you can muster. This video is pretty well done and helps explain the importance of shallow staging your car.

Please don't secrete in the forum. Kthx.

PS. I shallow stage, too, so that I can get a slight rolling start when doing my feathered launch technique. If I deep stage, then I trip the lights while removing the drivetrain slack.

Shallow staging is the best way for me to stay consistent. It helps with cutting a consistent light/reaction time. Plus a little rolling head start never hurts ET , since the clock does start until you break the stage beam.

I thought shallow staging was common knowledge. Cool vid.

And there really is no point in deep staging unless you're doing bracket. Deep staging will get your RT's consistent because you will trip the lights nearly instantly, but you'll get a higher ET that you can compensate for with your dial-in.

Absolutely, especially in a manual car like the Evo where you take out a bit of slack in the drivetrain for a split second before letting the rest of the clutch go. You want to just barely and I mean barely roll far enough to trip the staging light.
