MR owners, drag racing experience?
Being a proud MR owner and suffering with the occasional trip to the drag strip, I wonder what other people are running with their MR's. Having to go into 5th gear is a real kick in the ***** when the 5 spd guys get to hang out in 4th to cross the lines. My current best is 12.2 @ 114mph with a 1.79 60 ft. Mods are TBE, Intake, MBC, FMIC, Meth, Flash. Running 27psi tapering down to 23ish. I'm guessing I'd be a good 4-5mph better if I had the 5 spd tranny, but enjoy the 6 spd and wanted the MR due to its suspension/features and not having to change a lot to get a lot out of it in return. Just wondering if any other MR owners had taken their car to the drag track. Hard to compare our numbers to 5 spd guys since they get to take the 4/5 shift off
Im at 12.1 at 114 with a similar setup (06 MR). If we could get a better launch and shift a hair quicker we could see 11.9 or so. You should be able to stay in 4th gear (I do) and maybe that will help. The 5th shift may be hurting you a bit. Im no expert.

When I moved to high altitude, I had to start shifting to 5th even before the 1000' mark due to how drastically the powerband is shifted to the left due to altitude (on the stock turbo anyway). However, instead of hurting me, it actually helped me. If I held 4th to the end, I'd trap 106-107, but as soon as I started going to 5th, I trapped 109.5 consistently with 12.3-12.4s ETs. So, shifting to 5th in and of itself isn't that horrible, but it certainly is preferable if you can stay in 4th without sacrificing too much power. You're at sea level, so you can afford to stay in 4th until you're trapping much higher than 114.
What is your rev limit at that you can cross the line in 4th? I'm set around 7600rpm and if I try to cross in 4th its 110/111ish MPH. Tried it twice
If I bump it to 8,000rpm and hold ever gear then MAYBE I could pull it off...but I can't imagine my stock head would love me for that.

Raised my rev limiter to 8000 today. Looking forward to seeing what type of difference this makes. Will post results Wed. Thanks for the input. Good to see others results!
My rev limiter was at 8500 for a long time.
The shifts to 5th gear would lock out on both stock clutch and ACT single disc XTSS. I have even lost a race at an NHRA event due to this lockout.
You should feel comfortable with an 8200rpm limit that will give you the ability to run into the 11 sec range.
you'd have a poor attitude too if you saw everyone else running faster times with higher traps with worse 60 foots.
my friend richard rode with me a couple times and he ran 13.0 in his 06 sti. for an 06 sti, he definitely has the driver mod. he told me i shift every bit as fast as he does and my launch is only slightly slower. he cuts 1.68-1.70 pretty consistantly and im doing 1.73-1.75 consistantly.
im an 05mr with tbe/ catless, intake, fuel pump, exhaust mani, o2, forge bov and mbc, gsc 272/272s, act clutch and flywheel, tre transmission, ported head and an evo9 turbo, upper and lower ic pipes and a upgraded fmic.
only doing 12.3 @ 110
clay was doing 12.2 with clutch, exhaust, drop in filter, fuel pump, mbc and a tune.
