Deeper in the 9's for Paul!
Does the pPesident of the USA say to all the governors, MY STATE IS BIGGER BISH?
Scorke
Can't wait to see what Paul will do with the new setup- amazing driving and tuning it looks thus far. I'll always be a Northwest guy- so it's just awesome to see someone not only making noize on the west coast, but in the NW!!!!!!!!!
I just took out the seats and crash beam other than that i still have my amp, focal speakers,xm radio, sunroof, carpet. I had to do all the safety equipment all our tracks are nhra so that means full roll cage which must weight around 200lbs
plus scatter shield and a bunch of other things.
I would say it weighs around 3200lbs plus im about 240lbs

I never saw this thread but sure was fired up this morning when I heard about it! haha
So, Scorke, actually I did NOT call Paul out about our two "shop" cars being faster. The actual thread that post I made was in was Paul talking about the Tilton clutch and the problems he said he had with it. I was simply stating we have had nothing but good luck with it and then I said something to the fact that we were running it in 3 of our shop cars that were all faster than he is. Then I put something like this after I said it "(no offense your car is fast)".
Paul got all pissed off about my post, asked me to stay out of the thread and called the shop etc. etc.
I was not there to offend him, call him out or anything else. As a matter of fact I was quite impressed with his results and said that in the thread. I was simply sticking up for the Tilton clutch.
Now onto the part about your (Paul's) car being faster than our two "shop" cars.
First off, what exactly is a shop car? I'll go with saying our two daily drivers are shop cars as we own the shop and the cars. What else is a shop car though, seriously? I'd say you have a Lucas/ETS shop car. Difference is you drive and pay the bills. You don't work on it, Lucas does, you don't design anything, you buy things that are out there or Lucas does. So in all actuality, your car is also a shop car, you just don't own it. It's not like you are some shade tree mechanic building this car/tuning this car completely on your own with your own decisions in your back yard. I want to make it clear, I have nothing against you, you seem to actually be a good guy and I think you and I would get along. You are also going fast and doing extremely well. This said, I want you to know the points I am making in this thread are not meant as disrespect or to start trouble. Dan Bajalis is also what I consider a shop car as AMS did all the work on it. This is just an example.

Comparing your car at this point in time to mine or my brothers doesn't make much sense to me here is why:
First off my RS is a daily driver. Full interior, Toyo radials, full 3" exhaust, air bags, door beams, double din TV etc. Just took my wife, daughter in her car seat, friend of mine all out this weekend to a big cruise in/car show. I drive the car, no trailer, drive it to the track, in the gate, no changes, runs 9.77 at 148 mph, then drive it back home.
Daniel's car is the same as above but has ever single piece of factory sound deadening in it, air conditioning, a quiet Magnaflow muffler etc. on it. He runs BFG drag radials and ran 9.86 at 146.7 mph. His car is rediculously quiet, comfortable and cold
If you want to compare slick tired times we'll have to look at Curt's car which had a T3 67 Ptrim and ran a 9.33 at 153 mph. He made 640 whp on our dyno and ran 1.4 sixty foot times on slicks too. Curt's car on the other hand I would not consider a shop car as he turned ever single nut and bolt on the car himself. I tuned and built a short block for it, other than that he was on his own.
My cars best 60' was a 1.64, couldn't even go to WOT in 1st gear. Car still runs over 148 mph.
Daniel's sixty foot was also only a 1.6 and is running just shy of 147 mph.
Building an EVO with small brakes, 15" wheels/tires-slicks, running no exhaust, taking out the back seat, rear seat belts etc., in my opinion makes it a drag car, when you do that you have to compare it to times that other drag EVO's run.
Anyway, just my input. I am not willing to put slicks and small brakes on my car, nor am I willing to take the exhaust off, pull the interior out, that's just me and the goal I have for the car. Nothing wrong with what you have done, hell I respect it, go fast, go 8's! It's just not a good comparison.
Take care,

Its all good David
I have allot of respect for you and what you and your team have accomplished
We are all very impressed with what you have done with full street trim cars and making them go fast to take a daily driver and go 9s at 145 plus is flat awesome!
My car started to not be a street car when i had to put a full roll cage in her to race after that and all the NHRA requirements i decided to not make her a daily driver
I'm still full weight after all the gear i had to get put in
I can tell you im having blast going fast

Curt Brown from what ive read is his cars weigh what 2700lbs? and he goes crazy to lighten them. If i could just lose another 50lbs... i might get a 9.699
I could do this build on my own but i give credit to my Mechanic that has worked on 4G63 for the last several years and knows them frontwards and backwards.
I just wish i had time but running your own company takes it all up as im sure you understand.
I do have to confess that part of my motivation friday was to beat your ETs but it was all in good fun
My Tilton post was to try and let fellow evo owners know the do's and dont's of my mistakes on the Tilton clutch. If you read the first post i stated that i had melted some of the clutch and that there was only one other person that had melted the Tilton and it was a Baja Truck stuck in the sand. Call me crazy but i was proud of that
After talking to Kirk I could see were the post came across as very negative toward Tilton so i revised it.
On a side note let Jarod know ive got the autographs coming from all our Team Quest fighters and ill mail it to him.
My wife just read what we said and called us a soap opera
