You could buy brakes for MUCH cheaper than that. I know brakes from some galant will bolt right in. Im sure there are other options but I have heard of that. Id try searching for other ways to get cheap brakes on the car and go with all 4 tires.

Im sure it would help a little bit but since the car is awd it would hook better in the rear but the front would still be spinning very badly. It may eventually hurt the T/C do to the extreme difference in traction. Probably nothing to worry about for the few times you would drag race it though.

Don't do it. You can get a variety of soft compound 'sticky' radial tires to fit your stock wheels.

Why not buy drag radials? What is your power level?

If im not mistaken you need the RS Calipers from Japan to make the dsm brakes work. The RS caliper seem hard to get

The RS caliper is not hard to get. Call Adam at Z1 Auto and tell him Tim sent you. He has the set of Evo RS JDM front brakes which is all you need to switch over to 16's. The kit includes the rotors calipers pads and bolts etc.

I have a set of the brakes sold by Z1 for the evo which I would sell for $300 complete shipped - these are front brakes for a evo so you can use smaller wheels

These have about 300 miles on them but may have some minor suface rust
