I am running nitto 555r drag radials @20PSI (275/40/17) and they are ok; I was expecting them to hook better. I will probably be switching to hoosier quicktime pro's next time.

I'm liking the BFG 's pretty well on the stock rim. dropping the pressure to 15psi warm I was able to reduce my insane first gear wheelspin enough to get the 60' down from 1.9's to 1.70 on the street consistently (g-tech) no more feathering the throttle either...that was so annoying on the street tires. I'd have to lift completely off the gas to stop the wheelspin then get back in it, then shift.

wow 15psi way to low in my thought.

i ran mine 18psi cold. and then when they warm up they around 21-22psi. i seem to cut 1.5 all day long.

you run them to low you start to bow them in the middle.

yeah but I'm talking about the street, not the strip and the pavement is very cold. I started at 25psi and worked my way down until my 60' on the g-tech was consistent and quicker. 15psi is what worked best. I didn't try going any lower for fear of spinning the tire on the rim

so you use those tires on the strip and street? how are they on the street? any idea how long they will last? is it true that since the bfg's provide excellent grip, there is more of a chance to break drivetrain parts? ive really been interested in running them on the street as a daily/race tire. appreciate any helpful info. thanks!

I don't daily drive them on the street, they are way too soft and will marble up if you drive too fast with them. I drive them to my little test runway near my house and back, that's it. I'll put them in the car and drive them to the track and mount them.

they should last a good while like this. they grip much much better than street tires that's for sure so naturally the chance for broken drivetrain bits increases if you don't launch it properly.

15psi to low you get no better 60ft and then up top your car is going all over track which is unsafe. and also you lose some top speed. but hey if you think thats best then go for it.

i have already tried it and didnt seem to be good at all.

maybe it's the difference in our cars...I'm ~ 500-550awhp and first gear is useless on the street with street tires. At 25psi on the BFG is still spun through first and camped out on the rev limiter. At 20psi it was hit or miss, a decent launch, a bad launch. The nearer I got to 15psi the more consistent the car became. I didn't notice anything funny at 130ish at that pressure..nice and straight. I'm sure the rolling resistance is higher than say 20-25psi but I'f I can't get a good launch with that then it's not helping me much over street tires.

I'm sure with warmer weather I'll be able to up the pressure some...the tests I did with the new tires was at 15-30* weather on the street.

I think I'll be in the 125-130mph territory on pump with the 35R...I'd like to see some 1.6x or better and some 10's before I move on to the good gas.
