Smile My drag racing results (1/8 mile) ** New runs **

An organization in my area called RaceLegal holds 1/8th mile drag racing events at Qualcomm Stadium a few times a month. The track is notorious for having poor traction and only those cars with DRs or slicks have a real chance at hooking up. AWD cars like the Evo and STI running on stock tires have issues launching on this track.

Anyways, tonight I took my wife's Evo IX there for the first time and we left feeling pretty good. I ran 6-7 times, had two REALLY bad runs (missed 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd and ran high 8s), and several 8.3s-8.4s. My best run of the night was:

The mods are in my sig. This was on stock tires and at the stock tire pressure. I was launching at 5500 all night. Another event will be held next Friday and I am anxious to get back out there. I have a AMS 3" TBE and Walbro 255 coming on Monday, and they will be installed on Tuesday and the car will be retuned. It should pick-up some good power and my times should be even quicker (especially with more practice)!

What do you think?

Nice times. Don't expect too many replies in your thread due to running the 1/8 mile. It seems you need to run 1/4 mile passes and have a 11 and 10 sec slips to get anyone to comment on your times or driving.

I ran my stock SE Wed. night to a 8.4 @ 81mph with a 1.9 60ft. I'm going back next week and hopefully drop the ET a little bit and get some better 60fts. before I start to mod my car over the winter.

Thanks! There aren't any 1/4 mile tracks in my area, only a couple 1/8 mile. If I travel 2 hours or so there is a 1/4 mile track (California Speedway), but the problem is so many people show up and you are lucky to get 3 runs in during a 4-5 hour period. Totally lame.

Why don't you come down to Pomona next week for the NHRA Sport Compact World Finals and make some 1/4 passes. I'll be there competing in the ET Brackets with my Evo. You are guaranteed to get a couple of time trials in on Saturday. Pomona drag strip is rarely open to race for the public these days and you'll have a chance to race on one of the best 1/4 mile tracks around.

Thanks for the heads-up! Do you have a link to any information about this event?

Headin back to the track tomorrow. This time with AMS 3" TBE and Walbro 255. Although it would be nice to run quicker than a 8.1, I'd rather run a bunch of 8.1s then a ~7.9 and a bunch of 8.3s!

See you there bro! I pre-registered today and will get in the Speed Pass line tomorrow (and purchase a speed pass). I will be one of the first out at 6 pm. Gonna get 7-8 runs in and call it a day!

I'll see you there too. Gonna try and beat the ****ty 8.4 I had. Switching to 17" tires and upping the boost to 24psi. Will be there at like 5:00 so I can get in early.

How did you pre-register?

If you are having traction issues, up'ing the boost will only make matters worse.

If you go to RaceLegal's office off of I-8 and College Ave you can pre-register and save a whopping $5!
