What a blast!

Its been a year and a half since I drove the last evo and tonight was so much fun starting all over. I drove the new evo 3 hours to the track and wasn't there 5 minutes when they called sportsman. So completely heat soaked I ran anyways. First pass was 12.00/118 bouncing off the 4th gear limiter. I was hoping the previous owner had that all sorted out, but not going to happen. Next pass was 12.0, 11.9, 11.8, and 11.9. All were done within a little over an hours time and that was with sitting out a round. 60''s were 1.782, 1.767, 1.755, 1.692, and 1.743. 1/8th mphs were 89.01, 89.21, 89.19, 90.01, 89.57. 1/4 mphs were 118.07, 116.33, 116.32, 116.65, and 116.70. The best run was when I decided to sit out a round to let it cool and it went 11.8/116. I was happy becasue this is on a 93 octane map and boost of only 21psi I have no idea what the tune looks like or the afr's, so I am playing it safe until the re-tune. I weighed it in between rounds and even with the stock Enkei's it weighed 2900. I haven't even removed the speakers, rear support beam, or put on my CE28's yet. Koffebean, if your reading this you'll laugh. That was on those bald Kumhos with a tread wear of 400 you gave me Even managed a 1.6 60' and was barking the 2 and 3rd gear shift. The transfer case is still whining like a champ but never skipped a beat. Gotta love these evo's as they just love abuse. I have no doubts now that this car will run faster than my previous 11.56 car when the tune is correct, another 100 pounds lighter, a new shep TC/trans w/ evo 8 4th gear, and some Volks with a good set of meats. All on a bone stock IX turbo, no spray and no upgraded wheels, etc. The potential is there to run low 11's, just really need this thing tuned and need the ability of running out fourth. Can't wait to get everything finished up. Either way, it was so much fun playing with TA's on spray tonight

Boltz- Thanks, its good to be back. It was modded, but I have been making some changes.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the mods. Here are the basics, some I am not going to disclose just yet. I went back and looked at my old times when I was hitting the rev limiter. This car is already .2 and 4 mph faster even though its hitting the limiter. Weight is playing a bigger part than I thought. When we were able to stop hitting the rev limter in 4th on my old car I gained a full .5 and 4 mph. This car I have no doubts will run 11.1-11.2 when I get everything squared away. I just got tired of waiting on the rebuild of the TC/trans and figured why not, lets go get a starting point. After the holidays I will do the TC/trans, Volks, WGA and get it tuned on 110. Time will tell, but I am planning on burying my previous 11.56/117

I did want to thank AMS, ETS, TTP, and KingKyle for giving me great fast service. The parts are great as always. It's amazing how consistent these cars are mod for mod. I just need Al my trusty tuner to do his magic now. I have some vids and pics, but can't find my download cable for the camera. It will be a few days before I go back to my house to search....

Manual Boost Controller
Forge DV
Megan Manifold and O2 Housing

Pipe/ Filter kit
Upper I/C pipe kit

Cool man, Do the trans but skip the TC until you really need it. The 05+ TC's can take a hell of a beating.

You will smash your old record, no question.

Thanks guys, its so much fun being back in an evo. This rev limiter issue is like being in a boxing match with your hands tied But, it will all be worked out after the holidays. As for the TC, it's already shot. No worries, it's a good time to get in there and do the evo 8 fourth gear mod, etc. I am confident we will see good things from this RS.

Thanks guys and I have no idea the exact rev limit, but it isn't high enough I don't mess around on the street anymore to leisurely check and I forgot every pass to look at where it was cutting out. I was caught up in the moment.......
