STI's have 6spds so the gearing is short. doesn't matter tho most subie owners who drag race don't do well. there is a WRX @ Luke AFB in AZ that does run 10's IIRC. top mount gt35R, built & tuned by himself...

 

unless its a 07 sti... 1-4 have longer gearing. I have an 07 sti and go through the traps in 4th while 04-06 sti's have to shift to 5th.

Well you have a 500whp capable set up... How many 10's have you run? That year sti did have ****ty gearing, and not as ****ty but the evo 9 gearing isnt much better.
I'm bangin off the rev limiter at 8300 a few hundred feet before the end of the track and top out at 125mph. Low 11's all day but I need to get an evo 8 3rd and 4th to get my 10sec slip. Getting the money together as we speak to send my tranny off to shep.

to be fair a 12.1@116 isn't horrible driving, just horrible for a supposed 500WHP car

No excuses.....I have a 6 speed MR and made a 11.87 at 113.66. Im not sure of my whp but it's nowhere near 400hp.
