Just to throw another option out there for all evo 9 owners I changed my stock tires out for a set of 255/45/17 on the stock se wheels and picked up 4mph both in the 8th and at the end of the quarter. My previous best was 95mph in the 8th and 124mph in the quarter and last night I pulled 99mph in the 8th and 128mph with no other changes. Still ran out of gear before the end but it is still a nice improvement.

 

Thats how i got fast =-) 119 on pump with stock turbo



Where you the black evo out last night? My friend with a g35 saw you run and said the car looked good.. traction just wasn't happening for anyone though...

i dont want to sound like a dumb person but how does this work?? i been wondering what a good size tire will be for stock rims and street/highway/drag use.

No way you did 119 on pump gas, maybe with meth.. My car went 11.7@113 AND i have a 255/45 tire too.. What are your mods? Was this with full weight?

 

 

Yes that was me and I have got to lower my 2 step before I go back but the car was running strong. I pulled a 1.93 60ft and still managed a 11.3 w/ 99mph at the 8th and 128 at the end. A few more tweeks to the 2 step and 10's here I come!

 

Because the weight was not my problem it was my gear ratio or lack there of. By going to a larger tire diameter ( about 1 inch larger ) I was able to get a taller "gear" and trap 4mph higher.

 

Try a different clutch I know my factory clutch was slipping bad at the finish line and I was losing mph because of it.

 

I've gone 119.xx several times on straight pump and stock turbo.

 

u trapped so low cause you were knocking in 4th.... your car is very fast 1-3 though =-)


With the taller tires i stayed in my power band during the entire run.. Cross the line around 7500 i believe... versus on stock tires i would be around 8k


that was a 94 trap at 119 on pump... On my meth i trapped 120 with a 97 mph trap in the 1/8th... it was breaking up really bad so i was making no power or i would have trapped 123-124.

Because of the taller sidewall, its softer and affects handling... the car felt really loose and had much more body roll...
