If you cut 1.6 or better 60ft, I need your help
So far, I've only been able to cut 1.7x at best. What are you guys launching at? What method did you use? 2 step or manually launching? At what rpm was the launch at? Where did you shift from 1st to 2nd? I know everyone does it a little different so please do share. I'm aware that tires and tire pressure play a big part as well. The track that I go to, they don't really prep it that well on Sports Compact Day.

I'd like to know as well. I'm sure there are stickies or threads in the drag racing forum somewhere. since you started the thread I'll subscribe and hope to find out here. I think my best was a 1.78 with stock clutch and about 320hp/tq

I'm by no means an expert, but I Manually launch feathering between 6k and 7k. I shiif at 7k or slightly past. But its more about how you're coming out of the clutch. You most likely can't just side step it, because you'll either bog or spin depending on your clutch setup, power, tires, and track conditions. If you smell burning clutch a lot you're probably slipping too much, but just a little bit of slip and a lot of practice.

My best was a 1.68 that was with stock tires and clutch.
I set my tire pressure to 22psi all around and the two step to 6k if I remember.
Bring it onto the two step slowly and then only let it hit the two step for a very brief second. I noticed that if I let it sit on the two step it would get knock and bog the launch. Hold the clutch about halfway out (right before it starts to catch)
Then let it out as fast as you can without straight up side stepping the clutch. It will spin a bit off the line, I found that you want a little bit of spin, enough to basically hold the revs above 4 or 5k the entire time you are in first. Then I just shifted just before 8k.

I had both 2 step setup, and did it without the 2 step, cut consistent 1.60 60' times doing it manually, or with the 2 step. No difference in times cut to 60'. just rev to 7k, slip clutch a bit, once the car "moves" the drivetrain is loaded, and then I MASH the gas pedal down. Have to make sure it grabs/moves the car before you mash the go-fast pedal, or you will put too much shock/strain on the drivetrain, and wheel hop messes up more then your 60' times.
Keep your eye on the tach when on the strip, keep the rpm's right where you want them when you are letting the clutch out.

I think this depends on your setup. With a bigger turbo you need to launch higher to prevent bogging. I finally got a consistent launch, although not great. 6500rpm two step at half throttle and play with the throttle and clutch just enough to keep from bogging. Get the car moving at half throttle slipping briefly then do what you need to to keep from bogging while giving it more throttle. Sometimes I have to push the clutch back in a hair and let it out again.
Two step is definitely better than manual, because then you can pay attention to the tree and not the tach. I shift as high as possible (8500rpm) (or as close to it as I can guess in first gear) to prevent bogging in the next gear because I don't powershift. Really the shift point in first gear is more by mental timing then looking at the tach because my tach is everywhere in first.

I've pulled many mid 1.6's (1.63 being best). I have my 2step set at 6000rpms building around 12psi. I run 22-25psi in all 4 tires, depending on track conditions.
What I've noticed is that softer tires do so much better for launching. I run the Falken Ziex 512's. They gave up a little bit of handling with the softer side wall, but now I'm consistently in the 1.6's whereas the stock Advans were hit or miss.
