1st Time @ the track with the X

Well finally got the chance to take my X to the track. Since this is my first EVO and AWD car I do not know much on the expected performance of these cars, so I am looking for some advice and input on my runs.

The car has a K&N cone filter, Greddy Ti-C catback and was dynoed and flashed via EcuTek with Sean Ivey, besides that the car is stock. The car was weighed at the track and with me was 3854. The results from my recent tune and dyno with Sean was 320whp & 308tq.

Now on to my runs from today....

Track was Raceway Park in English Town, NJ.
Temp F. 82
Relative Humidity 0
Absolute Barometer 29.17

1st Run:

R/T... .897
60'... 1.925
330... 5.486
1/8... 8.548
MPH... 81.74
1000... 11.156
1/4... 13.347
MPH... 101.27

2nd Run: (This run I miss shifted into 3rd)

R/T... .789
60'... 1.968
330... 5.557
1/8... 8.752
MPH... 78.94
1000... 11.441
1/4... 13.676
MPH... 101.22

3rd Run:

R/T... .466
60'... 1.879
330... 5.480
1/8... 8.528
MPH... 82.10
1000... 11.144
1/4... 13.329
MPH... 103.27

I would like to know if I did pretty good or is there something I might be able to do better with what I have or is that basically what is expected from what I have???

Also maybe some advice on what I should do next in mods that might help bring some more tq and power to lower my times. I know there is a few more mods I will do but If you had to choose one or two items what would they be that would deff help? oh and that's besides the new clutch I know I will need soon cause the stock ones SUCKS! lol

Well, if you really have 320whp, then you should be much faster. I know the weight plays a role, but with that power and weight, I'd expect 107mph traps. You shouldn't be as worried about more power mods as you should about learning to drive it well (launching and shifting). You have a LOT of time left out there from driving alone, so work on that.

It's amazing how heavy the Xs are...

Well I would say that I was able to drive the car at its full potential, but I think what prevents me from having better times is due to the clutch. I did notice in one of my videos of my run which I just got to watch and confirmed what I thought happened, but the clutch is starting to slip. I thought I felt a slight slip but wasn't sure until I watch the video I had recorded. The car does have almost 10K miles on the stock clutch so I think that is where my problem is.

WOW thats more than 300lbs heavier than me and thats when i was on my heaviest (full interior, trunk, stock brakes, wheels etc)

Weight its huge and dont forget extra weight makes the drivetrain components to work much harder!!!

Definitely go out again and practice!

From what I have seen a lot of other cars I have seen posted on this site with a lot more mods and tuned have about the same HP that I have, and with only Ecutek, greddy catback and a filter. With only that done I gained about 80whp over stock which seems pretty good.

Well I had a few things in my trunk as well as me, and I'm 6'3 284lbs...lol I will be going back next week along with a friend that is a driver for of one of the shops I deal with so we'll see what happens.

I do think that the car deff needs a clutch and maybe that would be able to help out as well.

1.7x.

So it dyno'd 240whp stock then 320 with the mods, or were you estimating on the 240? I would have a hard time believing this thing was only good for 14.1 @ 95 when stock. The X MR I test drove yesterday felt pretty fast and that's with me @ 230-ish, the salesman @ 180-ish, a full tank of gas, and 6000' of altitude. Seat of the pants is no real "gauge," but since I drive my 05 daily, I was surprised that it actually felt fast.

I took it to a shop and had it dynoed before any mods were done which at that time put out 240awhp, the car only had the 1st factory reflash done but nothing else.

Same dyno where it did 320/308?

They already have a factory reflash for the Xs? Interesting.

It was not the same place or even dyno, I know different dyno will show differents #'s.

The car was dynoed by Sean Ivey before the tune. So the car with only catback and filter made 270whp, after the ecutek that is when it made the 320awhp.

I think your baseline power was 270whp. Check this out > https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=356241

That was my baseline with the mods already done to the car which was catback and filter. With the car bone stock w/ 1st factory reflash the baseline was 240.
So basically factory stock 240awhp.... Greddy Ti-C catback and K&N filter +30awhp.... Ecutek w/ IveyTune +50awhp which equals the 320awhp.
