Yeah, believe me I was dissapointed too, but you have to remember some tracks are slower than others. And in this case, some drivers are slower too. I was hoping for a 16.9 from my car, and still think it can be done as it is at a decent track and with a decent launch. It seems that here in So Cal, you have to choose the lesser of two evils: a slippery track, or a track at 4000' elevation.

On a personal note, and I hope nobody gets offended, I don't see a point in taking a slow family sedan to the drag strip. If I am going to do the 1/4 mile, I want a car that I could get below 10 seconds. If I can't glue myself to the seat with G forces, I need some turns to get a rush. Just my opinion, but I admire all of you who go out there and push the Lancer to its limits in whichever way you do it.

When comparing 1/4 mile times between people in different locations just remember that altitude, humidity, and temperature make a difference in the times you run.

For example: I was running 16.3 seconds all day long at the El Paso dragstrip which doesn't seem that fast, but a stock V-6 Mitsu Eclipse runs a little slower than that at that drag strip. Also a stock 95-98 mustang 4.6L runs around mid 16s at that altitude (4000ft roughly).

This was my best run at calispeedway... I smoked my tires all the way through first praying for traction before I hit second but it never happened. Anyways, it was my first time at the track and over half my problem was trying to launch like I was driving my old GSX. Grr... I'll run it again in a few weeks and see how it does just for fun...

Oh, and yes I know I got smoked by the car on the left... it was a mustang...

ahem, once again this is not a flame fest. Come run in the same track conditions and then we'll talk. Until then, this is for discussion on how to make EVERY lancer faster, not who is faster than who. Thank you.

Next time I am going to LACR, elevation might be a slight problem but at least it's a real drag strip and people can hook up there.
