Time Slips

Ok, the pics are too large (how can a black and white scan be too large??? ) and they were hard to read anyway, so I'm just going to type the info in here. But anyway, since 3 people have PMed me in one day for time slips from our crappy runs last Sat, here they are. Some specs on the track and cars:

#5265: OZ manual, ecu reflash, intake, performance tires ran cold (no burnout)

#4839: ES manual, ecu reflash, intake, throttle body, header, no cats, exhaust, stock tires with burnout

# 4837: OZ automatic, intake, stock tires (forgot if you did burnouts, Vince)

track conditions: new track surface (temporary track set up on speedway parking lot), 100 degree heat, very slight head wind.

With the reflash, I shifted at 5800-6000 rpms, will try with 5600-5800 next time.

______5265____4839____5265____4837
r/t____.845_____.848____.910_____.957
60'___2.552____2.631___2.536____2.680
330___7.278____7.150___7.191____7.777
1/8___11.197___10.940__11.060___12.035
mph___63.57____64.65___64.15____58.48
1000__14.590__14.235__14.429___15.671

1/4___17.463___17.022__17.268___18.786
mph___78.20____80.57___79.52____72.32

If this helps everyone figure out what they want to figure out, great. I'm going back to my autocross and road course racing

edit: I put spaces in there for a reason

I did not post this for a flame fest. 4 people who actually want to analyze data asked me for the information, so I posted it instead of having to email it to everybody who asked. I know they aren't great times, nor did I claim they are, but some people wanted to know how the 60' times and mph matched up, so they can decide on what mods to get. The 3 of us are NOT drag racers, and the track is simply a make-shift track in a parking lot.

Now if I hear any more flaming, I will ask a moderator to delete this thread and warn any excessive comments. Constructive comments, suggestions, and questions are welcome. Thank you.

First thanks for Posting Urban.

I can see why the times were so ****ty. The 60's are horrible. Anything around 2.4 should break into the 16's based on these runs. I'll have to check my mph to see if one of you would have tried to run me down at the end.

We Lancers have got to find a way to get some traction!!!!! The best run I have had I just said screw it and launched between 3-4K regardless of wheel spin.

don't give up on the drag strip yet!!

The OZ auto runs about right for the mod and temp.

When I went to the 2nd annual Summit race in G-ville, FL, I saw a STOCK (no one made any performance parts yet, unless the person jerry-rigged a home depot CAI) Lancer LS (held revs a bit) run 18.5x all day. Temp was a brisk 78-85 degress. When the track warmed up to about +92 degrees, he pegged the high 18.7's.

The track could definitely be improved. I wish Pomona was still open for street drags. I ran the same day in my Evo and:

R/T .930

60'....1.889
330....5.610
1/8.....8.743
MPH....80.93
1000....11.449

1/4.......13.718

MPH......100.28

This is with downpipe, exhaust, intake, Mbc set to 19psi to redline(with leaky stock bypass valve).

I was happy to break 13's and 100Mph. Maybe we need higher octane fuel and cooler air hear in CA

Alright guys! I have been looking over your times and they are very similar to my times at byron dragstrip and ran a 17.0 quarter after trying all day.... It was very humid and a strong headwind and they used a TON of the track spray that day... I went to Route 66 dragstrip in joliet on a cooler day with better track conditions and ran a 16.88 with intake and exhaust launching at 4000 and slipping very slowly and got decent traction with a 2.396 60' time on bald stock yokos. Also try powershifting at the track it will help a little. If you guys get a better track and a better day and get at least a 2.2 or 2.3 60' you should be happy with your times. Just keep going at it, personally I like making my OZ faster for what it is and I could care less what anyone else thinks because I know how slow it was before....

thanks for posting the times urbanknight!

I looked over the times from my first time to a track and I found lots of similarities. I remember the most difficult thing getting used to was the light TREE and as such my reaction times were awful nearly 1 sec.

I see the same thing with these posted times and what I have found from experience is that depending on how the lights are structured at your strip it is almost impossible to redlight. I try to release the clutch a little early when the 2nd to 3rd yellow lights are illuminating right before the green comes lit. If you wait to see the green YOU ARE LATE!!!!

So basically my tips to help your launches are to ease off the clutch and start the tires rolling at that last yellow and then as the green lights ( you are moving) and you can floor it.

Also for those not using the water it is still good to do "dry hops" and just pop the clutch hard a couple of times before staging.
I found that on the loop back to the waiting area the tires picked up a bunch of little stones and that made traction very difficult off the line. All this info pertains to Orlando Speedway, but I guess it should pretty much go for all.

I am going to try to get as close to red lighting next time I go but I am averaging .660 reaction times which are still not all that good but I have already jumped .300 secs out ahead of you.

If I haven't been clear then I'll check back and try to explain again.
