AMS goes 8.42.... The Quickest gets even quicker!!

EDIT: VIDEO ADDED!!!

HERE IT IS!!!!

AMS EVO 8.42 VIDEO!!!!

In a last minute decision today we decided to take our drag car to the track. Two previous attempts in the year were quickly thwarted by mother nature....not today.

We threw what had to be put together on the car, tossed it on the dyno and tuned her up. At about 4pm we loaded our flagship EVO on the trailer and headed out to GLD in Wisconsin for "sticky Thursday" or Slicks only night.

As we backed the car off the trailer I think most of us were in shock as 4 hours prior we had no idea we were even going to the track. All gassed up and ready to roll Eric Jones drove her into the staging lane for her first pass.

Aside from adding a little HP and some Aero we were also testing out our new dogbox compliments of none other then Shepherd Trans.

The First pass was meant to shake the cobwebs out, after all it has been more than a year since we have had the chance to make full passes in the car. With a soft launch she was off! Eric Jones managed to miss third gear but even in doing so the car went 9.3@168 MPH!!!! WOW 168 missing a gear!!

Well we let the car cool down, threw some more ice in the air to water intercooler and hopped right back into the lanes looking to see what she could really do. No gear misses this time. However as Eric Jones caught 4th gear he felt the car drop a cylinder...and he lifted completely off the gas. Throwing caution to the wind (LOL sorry Martin) he then got back into it even though down a cylinder and crossed the beams.....

GOING 8.42 @168 MPH!!!!!
all while the car was down a cylinder in 4th GEAR!!!!!!

At the big end of the track he was stopped by track officials and told that our cage was not certified past an 8.50 pass. We pleaded to run again but to no avail. We were told we could not make another full pass.

looks like its time for a more serious cage in the car LOL

when we got back to the pits we decided to look into why the car lost a cylinder in 4th. We checked the plugs....PERFECT. Next we decided to pull the valve cover. low and behold we had kicked off not one but two rocker arms.

So in the end the car went 8.42 at 168 mph with two rocker arms off thusly down a cylinder for the last 1/4 of the track...WOW!

Here is just a little point of reference to how fast the car MIGHT of gone....

On our pass last year that we went 171 mph we trapped a 128 in the 1/8th.

Tonight on our 8.42 pass we trapped an astonishing 137MPH IN THE 1/8th mile!!!!!!!!

HOLY S*&T!!

So all in all I would say it was a good night and all at a last moments notice.

Thanks to every one of our customers that make days like this possible. Without your support and perseverance in the sport shops like AMS would not be around and cars like our drag car would not of been able to set a record like it did today. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!

Here is the slip!

Eric

Thanks, we actually had it all fixed at the track. Threw a couple rocker arms back in it and she was ready to rock.

I would love to have a ride down the strip in that car at least once. After that I would most likely not want to do it again. I would certainly be intimidated by the power that car holds. All I can say is wow, I brag on last year’s run all the time to people I work with.

Keep up the good work. Can’t wait to see what this car does next.

So you did this amazing run on only 3 cylinders?
All I can say is HOLY POOP, that has to be a record in itself, 3 cylinder car goes under 8.50 seconds.
