17th Annual DSM/EVO Shootout **MEGA MERGE THREAD**
I've just had the opoportunity to read the last several pages of this thread. Whew! Before reading the drama, Tony (OKIX) and I had agreed that we did not want to run in the Stock Appearing Evo class this year. We may be running a Stock Appearing Turbo (or NOT), but we won't be running in the ESA Class. We both agreed that winning it 1 year was enough. We're smart enough to realize that changing the rules was an attempt to level the competion. Our C&R Radiator is actually larger than stock and is actually 2/3's size in frontal dimensions. But it's the spirit of the rule that we understand and agree with. The drag RADIAL is another change. Both of those rules could easily be met with minor changes (and already purchased Drag Radial tires) but again, it's the spirit of the changes. I agree with OKIX when he said that it's the FUN FACTOR and Relationships that are more important than winning any prize money. We still intend to make the event, we're just not sure on which class and which setup we'll be sporting. Nick, I look forward to seeing you this year. I might even get David to buy us a beer.
Your car being so fast Tom I have received my share of "come on, that's not fair" emails about it. If you put a normal radiator in it and bolt the DOT Radials on the car you are in the stock appearing class 100%. The stock appearing class is for cars that are stock appearing though and I have to keep the class somewhat meeting the class name.
It's going to be a hell of a shootout.
I think you guys should be going for 8's at the shootout!

With limited Shootout Camping info I figured I would make this thread.
Ive stayed at the hotels and most of the campgrounds in the area. The best option IMHO is Milan travel park. Its central between Cedar Point and Norwalk. (10-15 min to either) There are normaly alot of DSM'ers @ this one.
Of course there are also showers&power (this isnt an option @ the track)
Campground's Website -
http://travelpark.staycolonial.com/index.html
looks like rates will be..
Camping = $24
w/ electric = $29
Cabin = $75
Park Model = $99 (ive stayed in this before..there better then a hotel IMHO)

Ive also stayed @ Lazy J's
http://www.lazy-j.com/cms/
They were big on Rules and are a bit farther from the action but still cheeper then a hotel.
4888 US Highway 20 East
Bellevue, OH 44811-9722
(800) 305-9644
There is also the option to camp @ the Track if you are fine with sleeping on Asphalt/no fire rings/wake up to V8's@ 8am
http://www.summitmotorsportspark.com/
1300 State Route 18, Norwalk OH 44857
(419) 668-5555
I have to cancel my reservation for a cabin that sleeps 8 (3 private rooms with afullsize bed in each, plus a fulsize futon couch in the livingroom) at the Milan Travel Park Which totals about $350 for 3 nights so if anyone wants to snag my reservation just PM me soon before I call and cance and someone ese scoops it up.
Yes, 34 days and it's looking to be a huge turn out and the way you guys are putting cars in the 8's we should have a solid 8 second field of EVO's. It's going to be interesting!
