celica2evo, the last guy I took for a ride in my car threw up in his mouth. I don't want any body fluids in my car

I've edited the prizes to include the Happy Meal from McDonald's.

Ill throw an idea out there. Of course both parties have to be interested and I AM NOT trying to force this on anyone.

How about the winner gets a ride in the winner of Q16 or EEs car. I mean I still havent gotten a ride in the Bad Bish and I know it would be fun as hell. Hell, if the winner of q16 and EE arent willing to do it and the winner of ESA is interested. Id be willing to give them a ride down the track or give them a ride afterwards.

Just an idea as I know many people would be THRILLED to have a chance to ride in the Bad Bish or a similar car.

Just an idea and as I said, not trying to put words in anyones mouths force anything!
I'm actually serious.. I would like to buy the winner of this class a happy meal. David Feel free to throw it up there as part of the prize...

I'm really not trying to bash anyone, especially mellon for this tuning. He is a great tuner and I'm not mocking this isn't a great prize I just don't think it's a useful prize for 1st place considering if they won, they probably already have their top notch tune. If I won 1st place I wouldn't mess with my tune why fix what's already working and not broken.

At the same time I understand David's sarcastic remark of me forking up the money. He's already putting big prizes for the other classes and I guess this class simply got shafted this year. Truth is I'm not really asking for a large payout. I would gladly be happy with at least a ride in the badbish down the quarter mile..

I know I'm making a good point here.. In relation to the other classes.. I'd just like a little more to compensate for the work, trailer renting and risk of breaking. I have mad love for the sport and I've always attended DSM Shootout for the last 3 years. I plan to seriously compete in this class this year.

One more question David, If I remember correctly 9sec9's evo competed in the stock turbo appearing class last year, however he was running a fully built engine with aem. Will this be allowed for this class, your definition states a modded stage 4 buschur car is about spec to the limits of the class. I just want to clarify for the rest of us. Thanks.

David, please take my name off the sponsor list, I don't think I'm going to be able to make it this year anyway and I sure don't want my good name drug through the mud on EVOm in the mean time. Let somebody else sponsor that class if they want to pony up the cash.

Jedi, for what it's worth I offered to sponsor that class with cash a long time ago, David wouldn't accept my money because I've sent countless customers his direction. He was doing it as a favor to me which I appreciated. I thought about sending David the money anyway after reading this thread today just to make this silly little drama go away, but I just moved due to a divorce after 15 years of marriage and I don't want to turn loose of the money right now for obvious reasons.

I figured the truth would help clear things up, David I'm sorry if that causes a problem. You've been good to me and I do appreciate it!

Hey bud I'm sorry to hear that you're going through a tough time in your life right now.. I pray that you find peace and happiness in your life. In truth my comments where not meant to bash you nor buschur. I think I made it pretty clear that your tune is much appreciated I just feel it wasn't really much of an incentive considering the first place winner of this class I'm sure will already have a tune. Heck he might even be running your tune already.

I think you understand my point, I'm not really complaining either but in comparison to the prizes in the other classes I do feel I had a valid point.

I'm still standing by my offer of a McDonalds Happy meal.. and I know it's not much but as far as I see it.. DSM/Evo Shootout has always been about forming great friendships with people that share your same passion. And I'd love to talk to the winner of the class I'm going to compete in, in case I don't win.

Good luck in your future Mellon and thank you for your clarification in my concerns.

I agree, the prize for the class I sponsored didn't match the others. However, at the time I sponsored the class (long before most of the others) there were some classes that didn't even have a sponsor. Personally, I don't race for money, it's just for fun so I could care less if there's a cash prize in my class of choice. However, I realize some people are in it for other reasons.

The mcdonalds happy meal comment is insulting, I'd drop that line of bull**** rather than further insult us all by thinking we're all too stupid to realize that.

In regards to the happy meal prize.. I didn't mean to offend anyone with it. I simply thought about it as more of a chance to meet and greet the winner and have a bonding moment. I'd be willing to make it a steak dinner at my expense.

David was the initial one who threw the ball back in my court about what I would do for the winner or if I wanted to be a sponsor. I responded that I didn't have a company to offer anything reasonable but to get my point across from one Evo owner to another I'd be willing to pay a meal to the winner. I know it's not much but it's better than simply complaining than doing nothing about it.

In response to your comment about not racing for money and only for fun. I also don't always race for money but considering this is such a big event, and in comparison to the other prices I felt I had a right to make a point as to why this class was less rewarded.

Like I said.. I'd be happy to simply get shotgun in badbish.. I'm not asking for a cash prize.. simply an experience. In the end I'm going to compete in the class either way whether there is a prize or not. I'm not going to the shootout simply for money. It's going to cost me about 400 Dollars to get my car down there. Trust me if this was about money I would simply leave it at home and watch from the sidelines.

Coming from someone who won the event last year. Who gives a rats *** if there was any money or tune awarded to the winner of this class! Last year we had absolutely no idea that there were anything more than a handshake and a trophy, but their was. Yes, that put a smile on our face but to be honest not near as big as a smile I had when I crossed the finish line and knew that we won the ESA class. Enjoy the Shootout for what it is and has been for years. I think if you do get the chance to win it you will see that yourself.

Thanks for your feedback.. and I always said I would run either way.. I just poised a question based on observation and curiosity. Well as it stands my steak dinner is the only prize in the class now that mellon has dropped out.. So Good luck to the winner.. They do have a great steak house there in Ohio.. called Road House if I remember correctly..

This turned into a mess.

OKIX, I owe you a beer, you are absolutely correct. This event has NEVER been about the money or the payouts and I have never advertised payouts of any kind for the last 17 years of the event. The competing race made a big deal about payouts and that is how this started. Companies wanted to step up and support the Shootout and offer payouts. While some racers care about it, I feel that 90% or more of the Shootout attendants don't come to the shootout even for the racing but the friendships and the atmosphere. That's what the event is about.

As for the Happy Meal, it was an insult, Mellon is dead on with his statement. If you want to buy someone a meal Jedi approach them on your own, I find your comments out of line from the first post to be honest.

Mellon, I am going to keep you on the event as a sponsor. I appreciate what you have done for us and this event is huge. It will send business your way from the advertisement and I want to keep you on.

If anyone is coming to the event just for the payouts and that's all that's important, I'll be honest, this isn't the place for you. Come for the good times, for the memories and friendships that's what it's about.

I hope next year things are back to "normal".
