Very uspeting '02 .25mi times
Jezuz, I knew this thing was slow but....
1 2 3
RT 1.408 1.297 .934
60' 2.617 2.710 2.709
330 7.525 7.911 7.732
1/8 11.542 12.046 11.983
MPH 61.08 59.39 58.19
1000 14.983 15.563 15.558
1/4 17.930 18.583 18.521
MPH 76.19 75.21 75.41
God Damn it man! R&T tests it at 16.9 stock, I put an exhaust and intake on it, I get 1+ sec over their time.
Maybe I suck at driving.
Maybe I should just pedal my mountain bike down the track
Anyhow, I staying as far away from the strip with this car as possible.
(grumbling) These times suck. I would have settled for low 17's but this is very ****ty.
Well, if this is my starting point on which to build upon, screw it. It aint even worth modifying.

Having done SCCA ProSolo before (but never drag raced), isn't 1+ seconds Reaction Time WAYYYY to much?
In ProSolo, you need to be b/w 0.5 to 1 second, otherwise you redlight.
If that's the case, then you can already shave off half a sec by just launching at the right moment.
With my M Coupe, I got 60' times at ProSolo of 2.0-2.1 secs.

Sorry to see those bad times. The Lancer was not built for the track, regardless of what you read on here. Just about every review I have read, in every single reputable magazine/online has called it a "grocery getter".
People buy it because of the price(cheap), and the fact that Mitsu attached the words "OZ Rally" to it.It is SOHC, non-turbo, non-AWD with 120hp. Putting on exhaust and intake yields you what? 10hp? 20hp? So now you are working with 140hp MAX. How fast do you think you will go?
If you are looking for a good platform to build upon to bring to the track, you could do it much cheaper with a DSM, or perhaps you should have waited for an Evo.
I am not bashing the Lancer and I think it is a great car that serves a purpose, but I think you had your hopes too high to begin with.

I bought the car because it was cheap and looked kinda cool not because I thought it was fast. Now I am begining to think it was overpriced.

You thought it would be faster, based on the rated 1/4 mile. It is very hard to meet that time if you cannot get good launches, or are not familiar 1/4 mile drag racing. Moreover, you stated this was a starting point to begin with, and I was just pointing out that if you were trying to go fast, you could do much better with another car.
In essence you are saying that you are mad that it is not fast(as per your first post), and now saying you didn't buy it because you thought it was fast but rather because it looked cool. ???????????? Keep in mind that matching the rated 1/4 mile is difficult if you cannot get good launches.
That is all.

Ah well, no harm done dude.
I went to the track for fun thinking I would have done better. I mean, my old 88 Legend (automatic) with 175K mi + on it was running faster than this.

But No big deal. I have better things to worry about.
If I wanted to have gotten a fast car I would have... I test drove everything from 15K-30K before figuring out that this is all I could afford right now.
Maybe after I pay off $20K in student loans I will be able to get a car that drives as fast as it looks!
Yellow=Hp!!!!!!
Peace.

hey UNHdude...
Don't be too hard on yourself. Its not that bad, you know, there are a lot of things to consider:
size/weight
power output
emission devices(takes away a lot of hp)
tires
climate/weather
driver skill(like they say, practice makes perfect)
How "old" is your car man? A few miles? Have you even finished "breaking-in" the engine? New engines need at least 5,000kms(in our country, we use kilometers)to finish its "break-in" period... maybe you should do the same... and try your car at the track again...
you made a great choice getting the lancer.
