Another FAILED attempt at a 9 sec pass VIDS INSIDE!
Another FAILED attempt at a 9 sec pass VIDS INSIDE!
So i decided to head back out to Sacramento for TNT the day before the CMI event.
Didn't want to run in the CMI event for tech reasons and i'm glad i didn't seeing how many of the local CA evo's weren't able to make it out to compete due to parts failures etc.
We were out there last week but had some trouble building boost off the line (only 8psi) but dialed in the top end of the car and worked on getting the shifts down.

So we get out again Sat and make some changes to the 2step parameters and promise not to run too quick or fast so the tech guys wouldn't trip so i practiced the launch mainly.

After a little more fine tuning we went back out and tried to make a full pass and DAMN did it it RIP out of the hole however just my luck the car was only running 30psi in 3rd and 4th gear killing the ET and MPH (down 7mph from last week )
By the increments it was quicker in the 60ft by 2 tenths all the way to 1000' but down about 5mph at the 1/8mi and 7mph by the 1/4mi when the car had run 10.56@137mph 1.8 60ft a few months back. Here's the slip from back then:

The vid from this sat pass described above:

So we tried to make a few more adjustements to get the WG to allow me to run at full boost 37psi but this time the car got out good 1.52 60ft and was on a good pass but once i hit 3rd gear it fell flat on it's face so i got out of it.

The car felt like ithad the potential to run a 9.99 - 10.10 but it wasn't meant to be that day....we will get back into the shop and make the adjustments needed and the plans for a 6 point are back into the equation so we should have another attempt soon enough!
I'll get slips up shortly.
If we came away with anything it was a perfect day for racing, my fiance was able to make it out with me and man the vid camera, and we got some in-car footage for fun

Nice passes Patrick! LOL @ your gauges flopping out on the incar video, sorry dude, I had to laugh about that haha.
Car looks really strong. One thing you can work on is getting the car straighter in the groove when you stage the car, couple of times you were pointing the front of the car at an angle. I knew if I had my talon out of the groove when staging it, I was going to be in big trouble lol.

Those damn things are coming out and going up for sale since i never even look at them

I knew i was going to be a bit outta the groove but a honda broke right before me and there was no vht in the groove so i tried to come out to the edge of it where my foot was sticking to the track (checked prior to the pass) but it was a bit too far.
Oh well the shift to 2nd put me back in it
Here is a copy/paste of what my tuner Sean had to say after reviewing the logs (unfortunately he wasn't there with us to catch this)

Hey Pat
I finally got to take a look @ your logs from the runs. It looks like your pump gas map was being triggered on and off during the runs, causing the rich AFR and low boost. The trigger wire for your pump gas map must have been hitting on the chassis somewhere near the ECU. Looks like your magic pass is around the corner.

Thanks to all that posted and enjoyed the vids!
I have never done that but will look into it does everyone do the same
Been thinking of getting back out in a couple weeks since this weekend is Easter and all however i may wait until May as they change the TNT to Fri nights and the air is usually a lot better in Sacramento at 8-9pm
On the 1.8 passes i wasn't really launching the car and it would usually bog a bit.
This past time out was the first time out really trying to launch it hard (trying for 1.4X 60's)
It took a little adjustments to the aem for rpm and amount of boost off the line.
I hope i posted that in the vids but sorry if i didn't 26" Hoosier QTP's (it's also in my sig)
With a little less air and lining up in the groove i think they can handle some 1.4's but i would be interested in trying a full slick and maybe a 24" version.
