DG Motors Drag Evo 8 Hits The Track..
DG Motors Drag Evo 8 Hits The Track..
I'd like to start off by saying most of you know we purchased Buschur Racing's Drag Car. Many people are quick to point fingers and say it's easy to buy a solid car all done and ready to go. Well it's not easy at all. Anyone who races knows the prep that goes into the car, nut and bolting the car. Tuning it to get it ready for the track etc etc etc. Gas alone for this car is unbelievably expensive and the car eats through spark plugs fast!
Now onto the fun part. We decided to hit a private track rental at Atco raceway in New Jersey a few weeks ago. We also decided we were absolutely NOT going to set records but to learn the car off the line and then progress onto making a few solid 1/4 mile passes. Well we did get some practice with 60fts and 8th miles. The car decided to grenade a T-case and Main Diff at our first real attempt to making a whole pass. Regardless, we had a great time learning the car as it's an absolute beast even on the small turbo.(T4 HTA88)
Other than breaking we did well as a team. We stayed at a local hotel the night before, ate hibachi in Philly, and had a blast at the track. The car still managed a 10.8 @ 88mph letting off at the 8th
The saying is, you aren't going fast if you aren't breaking...That is damn true...
Here is a video we through together with some pictures to follow:

Overall we had a great experience. The only downside is that the closest tracks available to us from Long Island, Ny is New Jersey. It doesn't seem like a far ride (3 hours) but it is an expensive trip. Hotel, tolls, gas, food, breaking, etc all add up. It's all part of our life style and we will continue to get out there and go for it as soon as we fix the car up.

Not bad guys...why only 1/8 runs...sucks about the transfer case...I saw Charlie in the video...hes tuning it I'm assuming? Tell him I said whats up and answer his phone damn it! haha...I want his turbo!
Nice post guys it is amazing how much is involved to go racing especially when you don't have access to tracks close by.
Do you think the driveline may have had an easier time if you sat on the 2 step for a little bit longer? I know it's seat time that helps you find the sweet spot of the car but it seems maybe a bit too quick letting the clutch out.
Oh well the road trip, food, and friends is what we always enjoy no matter how good or bad the car did that day lol.
Hope you guys are back up and racing soon!

Charlie is our part time tuner! I still tune myself but charlie does a great job and has proved himself with quite a few cars that came through here already

As much as it sucks we broke before making a full pass will only make us more cautious and careful next time out. There is nothing bulletproof in racing
Thank you!
Keep in mind this car is down an easy 100whp on power. We have at least 10psi more boost and a decent amount timing left in the tune.
Thanks Much! There will be plenty of updates, we are working on the car as we speak to get it back to 110% Next time to the track we will be in the 8's...
Thanks.
Our maf sensor decided to take a dump on us so the car only managed 12.59 @ 113
This car hands down should trap mid 11's. Both cars decided not to work out to how we expected them to. Both cars were 110% before we went to the track then they both decided to give us trouble with one totally breaking and the evo x with the bad maf.
We will be back shortly!
