Hmmm... little help??

Hey peeps, I drive a Evo IX and after 2 years of staying stock I decided to mod. Here is what I have on right now.

3" TBE with down pipe
Injen lower and upper intercooler pipes
Injen Intake
Hallmans MBC (set at 25LB)
HKS SSQV BOV (VTA)
Fandanza light flywheel
street tuned by wingz proformance

I recently took it to the track to see what my new mods had done for me and although it was a noticable difference from stock I was only Pulling a 1/4 mile time average of 13.1 sec with the fastest at 12.93 sec.

Now if Im correct those are still times of those who run stock evo's. Shouldnt my times be a little quicker? Think that maybe the hot heat here in az kills me? Could it be my shifting? Basicly I want to see if there is anyone out there who has/had my current mods and have better or worse results. Thanks

it possible for the car to go faster then that but it depends on so many different things! it could b a combination of the heat and not shifting fast enough so your falling way outta boost when you shift and prob your launching... what was your 60'?

How about you invest in the driver instead of the car? =) Thats a step.

1. Practice (Legally and Safely)
2. Practice (Legally and Safely)
3. Practice (Legally and Safely)
4. Practice (Legally and Safely)
5. Practice (Legally and Safely)

hahah I do practice. maybe too much lol.
and the time for my
60' was 1.867
1/8 @ 8.447
1/4 @ 13.180
@ 105.13 MPH

what rpm should i be shifting? I pulled this time shifting around 6800-7 k. am I shifting early? waiting to long?

I assume the 31.180 is actually 13.180 in the 1/4. Otherwise, you've definitely got trouble!

If your 1/8th MPH was around 82 MPH, then your run seems fairly consistent. Around 7k shifting is probably fine. Most IX's seem to run around 110 MPH with your mods, even with so-so shifting, so something does seem to be up. Two things I'd say: 1. get it on a dyno - you should be around 340 HP on a Dynojet, 2. see what others with EVOs in the area are running at the same track. Could be funny timing at the track, or it could be the elevation if you're at a high elevation.

One other thing I noticed... most folks don't have a lightened flywheel, and I believe that tends to cause more drop-off of revs between shifts (as evokid511 mentioned), so shifting faster might be more important on your car than on some. The only way to really tell is to datalog your runs and see how far the RPMs drop off in-between shifts.

I heard tire pressure would help if i lowered it to 20 psi. Right now the tires are at 30 psi for the roads. Lowering it would help no?

You should be having higher MPH with those mods. I say practice and dyno tune.

Lowing tire pressure would help with 60' but might hurt in the mph department.

Nothing will improve your ETs more than practice. With no hardware changes, only practice, I went from 13.1 to 12.4.
