Pat's Evo 9 runs a personal best but ...... UPDATED W/ VIDEO

Made a trip out to the track after putting in the 5point bar and switching to 1450's and E85.

Was just going to make a few passes to fine tune and log info and had some good and bad news.

I was one of the first 20 cars and the 10th car oiled down the track for an hour

Finally got to make a pass and the car left a little soft and was making a decent pass but for some reason my gutt said to lift in 4th gear

Get back to the pits and shut her down and then i see coolant coming from the front timing assembly area so i think the water pump said goodbye

The over flow was not filled and the tube itself totally dry. Car never overheated and logs showed normal coolant temps however i did have the heater blowing after the pass which i do every time possibly masking the rising temps???

The car did run a personal best (not by much lol) but does give me great hope to get the car deep into the 10's w/ a possible 9 sec pass in the near future.........

Enough w/ the excuses here is the breakdown:

Temp - 79*
Hum - 51
Baro - 30.00

60' - 1.609
330' - 4.400
660' - 6.717 @ 104.20
1000' - 8.721
1320' - 10.435 @ 125.25

I have a vid that will be posted as well as the slip i know it's not much but it's def progress now i gotta start researching water pumps and failure and why.......if you have info on that please do share links etc.

YUP

The QM has been treating me very well aside from its low speed tendancies it is flawless at the drag strip.

I wana switch to some 24" slicks to see what effect it will have.....and maybe some diff lowering springs.

Wish i knew how to go about getting some other sponsors for some of this stuff......it sure does get expensive

Kool thing was all the old skool domestics in comp rod class were TRIPPIN when they saw my car leave a Cuda like it was standing still

Good luck Patrick, I'm sure you will get it sorted out. It must feel good to have a safer car and not have to worry about getting the boot. Props to you for doing things the right way. BTW we bent up a six point for use at a later date . Indy

Thanks ..............not too bad for a year and a half of racing, dynoing, and street driving everything else seems to be ok motor wise

Logs showed right at 6900-7000 and vehicle speed showed 130mph.......a little bench racing if you don't mind but what do you think it would have gone guys?

Being strapped in tight w/ the harness sure made me feel like a real race car driver

Here's a quick little vid a friend filmed for me.

Funny how you can barely hear the car w/ the full exhaust on it but they are strict about noise as they restrict you to just over 100db

I'd say lifting and running 10.4's is a good day at the track. Congrats on lowering your best time that also qualifies as a good day.

I definitely see a high 9 for you before the end of the year

Thanks for posting up guys!

The launch was so-so in my book was just trying to make a good pass and not bog or crazy spin since it was the first pass off the trailer.

It has gone 1.5x in past runs but i feel it will take a good solid 1.4x to break into the 9.99 area that's why i'm considering a switch to 24" full slicks.

Comparing to other posted slips w/ the 6.7 1/8mi i think it would have been good for 10.2x at least.
