no tint....nhra rules??
so i am a little new to the rules at the drag strip, and i am preparing this season to be safe and not get kicked out of the track! one of the nhra rules state that i can't have window tint unless its factory....i have 20% all the way around, and i deff don't want to take them off just to race at the track. my question is, are they loose about this rule or are they pretty serious? and what the hell is the relevance??!!
i've got 25% in the front and 35% in the back and i've been to great lakes and bryon for T&T and haven't had any issues. you should be ok since you only have 20%. i think its up to the track and may possibly depend on if you're in an event or not....i may be wrong....hopefully someone can clarify this for you more cuz i'm not certain what the point is behind that rule.
Unless you are racing in a NHRA sanctioned race, you really won't need to worry about their rules. What you need to do is go to the track you plan race at and ask for a copy of the tracks rules. The tracks rules may be the same as NHRA's or it they might not. In most cases they're not from my experience.
I've raced at 2 tracks that run NHRA events and they are have different rulings on how fast you can go without a helmet or cage. As well, I also have 3% tint on the rear windows(according to the state police) and haven't so much as heard a peep from track officials.

Well that's good news. The only reason I am worried is because I signed up for Pinks All Out and I wanted to be kosher so I wouldn't be dqed, that's why I have also been looking for a cage so I can run 10.9s with out a problem. Thanks guys !

How the hell could you see at night, its hard enough with 20%. The only tracks I would run at would be route 66, Byron, and GLD so ok/ l just check with them, btw when does th track open?
i have 20% on the front driver and passenger window. all the rest of the windows are 5% and i have been running at island and englishtown for years like that. you should be fine.
I asked help from www.TintBuyer.com. They provided free relevant information for tint buyers such as its benefits, prices, laws involved in every state and most importantly they help me locate the best window tinters near my area. I hope this one helps
NHRA.........man, they keep coming up with more and more stupidity. It's a shame NOPI and NHRA ruined Import Drag Racing and can't get with the program to keep racers racing.
I hope you get by your tint problems. They should encourage tint, it harms nothing and keeps the glass intact in a crash.
