My final chioce!!!!...

Hey guys I know its been a while since ive been in this section for a while from my last thread.https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/dr...irst-time.html but I have come to a final decision....

I WILL NOT drag race my X ever again!...No i didnt break anything this time.I have AMS UP and LO ICPs,Intake,FMIC,DP,and UR TBE,3-port boost solenoid, and a CBRD tune!about 27lbs of boost set. With all those mods and my inexperience with draggin my 1st turbo car i just dont wanna drag it ne more!Tonight I tried usin that built in 2step launch control...dumped the cluth completely and I just bogged again...dont kno y becuz i had the RPMS up but i didnt like the feelin it put on the tranny!Launchin that car is just not a real good idea!+ with the 3-port boost solenoid my effin wastegate keeps creepin open and doesnt have a high torque boost and it doesnt accelerate smoothly down the track!

The 2nd run i did the same thing but something happend, the launch control didnt hold!It just bounced on the rev limiter and i had do bring it down just as the light turn green and my reaction suffered alot!I gave up after that.I dont wanna hurt my X.The car is fine now and i wanna keep it that way.

Im not tryin to build a drag car or a track car for that matter.I just want to have 1of the fastest cars on the road.Something that spoils quickly with a high torque curve and quick responce from rolling takeoff and good acceleration from cruising in low RPM to WOT.The bolt on I have right now is all i want until I decide to get a better turbo which im lookin into right now but I probably wont get until next year...Right now im pretty sure ima go back to the factory boost solenoid setup and turn the boost down to keep the wastegate from opening prematurely!

I kno a better turbo with a stronger wastegate would probably fix my acceleration problem now...but im not ready to get that quite yet...Im just gonna spend more time learning about turbos and their components to get a better understandin and come up with a good application for me and my driving and not just some effin huge turbo with stupid power i cant use!...

You should run your car a few times at the track without launching and compare the MPH to what you saw on your first outing. 1/4 mile time changes drastically with a launch, but MPH only changes a bit. Changes in MPH indicate more or less HP (very roughly, 1 MPH for 10 HP) after installing a mod.

If you drag race without launching, add about 2-3 MPH to what the timeslip says. If you see < 100, your car is really slow. 100-105 is pretty much EVO-stock. 110-113 is a mid-to-low 12 second run, and your car is pretty fast. Higher and it's really fast - maybe 115 to get in the 11's, 130 to get in the 10's. The reason you want to do this is that you really don't know how fast your car is without doing some racing.

I don't agree with your "final choice" but it's your right.

Do you think everyone that races, goes out and runs perfect and gets good times? H#ll no! I guarantee you everyone running 11's, 10's 9's....has done what you described above, maybe 100 times or more!!!

Making mistakes is all about learning about the car. I've learned more about my car making 15 second passes, than thousands of miles driving to work. Getting to know your car and it's limits will actually make you a better driver on the street.

If your car is not running right, which is why you don't want to go to the track. Fine, get it fixed. But to not run because you're not the best driver, welcome to the club. 90% of the drivers at the track are below average. So what...it's all about learning about the car and having fun.

It takes some practice, but it's a great feeling when you start to get it right and see your times drop. Stop worrying so much and just go out and have fun! That's why you got an "Evo", right?
