Talking S2000 runs 7.97 @ 171

Within the last week a well known shop in Puerto Rico, Red Star Motoring, pull-vaulted the S2000 into new found territory-7.97 @ 171! Here is the link to history in the making:

http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=815365

I am proud to say that I have owned both a 2006 S2000 (turbocharged) and an Evo IX. Both excel in their intended purpose, and when mod'd they become even more dominate. For years now I have seen several Evos post times of 8.xx and have waited to see an S2000 run 8s. This same S2000 ran a low 8 about a month ago and is now running 7s! I would love to see a drag racing event where the world's fastest Evo VIII/IXs compete against the world's fastest S2000s. Gotta love being an import car fan!

Well, it is alot easier to drag race when you have a tubbed rear with a Ford 8.8 rear end. You're not really comparing apples to apples. Its very few Evos (of any model) with drivetrains modded that far. If I'm not mistaken though, a 4G63 holds the record when it comes down to just the world's fastest four cylinder.

I think this is the fastest 4 cylinder, indeed a 4g63. Lol.

There are a number of Evos, to include Buschur Racing's former drag Evo, that used a Ford 8.8 rear end. Also, there are quite a few using dog box transmissions, sequential gear boxes, etc. I am not sure how this isn't an apples to apples comparison.

Fastest 4 cylinder? I believe it's an Ecotech in a railcar.

Also, taking an F20, F22, or 4G63 and putting it in a go kart like shown above is obviously a completely different situation. This thread has to do with S2000s and Evos (VIII and IXs), and not simply the engine that initially came with them.

LOL! When I created this thread I knew there would be haters. Always is. Doesn't matter if it has to do with an Evo vs. Vette, Evo vs. Pinto, Evo vs. whatever. Simple fact is you have a heavily modified S2000 which ran a blistering 7.97. There are many heavily modified Evos out there running crazy times as well. Most of these Evos wouldn't be deemed an Evo either, but do we really need to split hairs?

Bottom line is performance enthusiasts should be happy to see an import car running some crazy fast times and giving the import community a good name.

Why does it have to be limited to VIIIs and IXs?

There's an Evo III that ran 7s a couple of years ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTTEd...eature=related
You look in the back of that Evo and see that it definitely doesn't have a stock rear diff. The 4G63 can produce just as much power as any other 4 cylinder out there. The problem has always been the drivetrain.
