Simply because the comparison is between an F20/F22 vs. 4G63 in its original platform. You mentioned an apples to apples comparison.

Brent's car is quite original any way. Granted a lot of what it has is for safety requirements, but still.

A 4G63 in its original platform is an AWD/FWD DSM. The fastest AWD DSM runs a 7.70@191.

Bottom line: S2000s don't belong on the drag strip. Even less so than Evos. We had a fully track prepped S2k a few years back that was VERY competitive, 9 times out of 10 we were the head of the pack, which included at least 3 equivalently prepared (local racing series) Evos.

Don't belong? So what does?

Simple fact is you have a heavily modified S2000 which ran a blistering 7.97. There are many heavily modified Evos out there running crazy times as well. Most of these Evos wouldn't be deemed an Evo either, but do we really need to split hairs?

Bottom line is performance enthusiasts should be happy to see an import car running some crazy fast times and giving the import community a good name.

impressive. sounds more like a one hit wonder than anything...

do this then.. build a spread sheet, insert every drag s2000 from 10.99 and faster.

then add up all the 10.99 faster EVO's and I am willing to bet the number will favor the evo so heavily that you will ignore the hating and accept the truth

For what? Its a known truth that Evos have been performing very well in drag racing for many, many years. For S2000s, this hasn't been the case. It hasn't been until the last year or so that owners/shops have finally directed their focus on making an S2000 competitive in drag racing.

Bottom line: I posted a video of an S2000 with either an F20 or F22 running a 7.97 in the 1320. I have yet to see ANY Evo VIII/IX run in the 7s.

everyone knows RWD is a FAR better platform to drag race with.

I dont wanna hear the lame excuse that they finally directed attention to drag racing..

No one accomplished the feat till now is a better way of putting it..

I already said its a great feat, what else do you want us to do? Bow down to the one S2000 that made it to the big leagues??? Ill pass.

I do believe that someone beat ams record by .1 unless they took it back again. I am watching to see what the crazy build from douglas autoworks is going to do. In time I expect an evo 8/9 make it into the 7s. I just wonder if the aero is whats holding them back some.

its not about splitting hairs.. The OP posted up, and with the post has debate written all through it, not to mention he even questions the 7 second evos existence several times over the period of responses?

why come into here posting something, then tossing it into faces of hundreds of vendors and thousands of owners about how someone with a lot of money and time made an S2000 go fast.

its cool! we got excited, then we moved on... Its just goofy that the OP had to spark arguments with several people attempting to show praise in a car we car very little about.
