There is no longer any difference in power potential between tuning with a stock ecu or an AEM/Haltech or whatever your poison is. With a built motor, higher compression, port work etc, there is probably another 50-60whp on the table, possibly a little more depending on other changes.

What the heck is up with all the 9-sec drag times in all these signatures? Jayzus!

Tobz hit 10s up here, so not my goal nor accomplishment. I would like to hit low 11s at altitude now that I have a Green. I would need 3-4 tenths, which should be possible if we get it tuned and running well after a 2yr hiatus. I had just gotten the Green on with a few other things before the twins were born.

I had a 3582 non HTA stock block, stock ECU, Full weight back in 2008. Now i have a black IX and before my built motor setup i went 10.59@131 on stock block/stock ECU/full weight with an Fp Red. Its crazy all these guys going 9s on a stock motor, I had plans to do it but my stock motor deciding it like the beating Good luck on ur quest for 10s, either way 10s or low 11s at the altitude is sick

Btw, Tobz rules! 10s at altitude.

The old groupthink mentality and newb abuse on this forum are things of the past. A friendly warning in advance, those waters are best left untested.

Amazingly accurate preemptive warning that cannot be improved upon so I'll quote once again.

You were also sent on a little vacation for impersonating a mod and threatening other posters with being banned. Ahhh good times.

Speak with 4WS tuning. With the advent of speed density conversion, GM 5 Bars, and Tephra mods the AEM standalone is rendered nearly obsolete. As we all know the knock detection of the stock ECU is 2nd to none I don't care how well you can tune a stand alone. Check out what he is doing, adding massing WHP and even better gas mileage to boot.

I don't know that I'd even install that old skool FP Green... so many better options similarly sized are available now...

The advent of Speed Density and Tephra v7... ecu based boost control... 4 bar map sensors that look like stock ones.

Ball bearing stock appearing turbos... better cams are available now... bigger fuel pumps (300lph)... 1600cc and 2000cc injectors that can idle on pump gas on the stock ECU.

Ohlin's came out with a new DFV shock. TRE is doing rear diffs that are nuts (might have been there when you were around) AWD is doing aluminum driveshafts on the cheap.

Oh just general greatness for the Evo community. I've been in heaven ever since I got here.

OH YEAH! and Borg Warner's EFR turbos. Check em out. They'll blow your mind.

And just earlier this year I was thinking "another one of the original 05 owners seems to have dropped off." Welcome back and do play nice

It's been installed for over a year and was used, so it'll do for now. All the rest sounds like pure goodness.

I've been preaching stock ECU for years, but I didn't know things had progressed that much. I knew that stock ECU tuning had improved dramatically before I went dark, but this sounds incredible. I'm about to get everything cinched up and re-tuned, so I'll be focusing on these things for sure.

Mmmm, I've also preached stock turbo or stock-like turbo for years. I got down to 11.51 on the IX up here at altitude, but I haven't run the Green except for one pass, which was an 11 but not a good run. If there are even better turbos that surpass the Green while remaining stock-like, then I will take a look. Money isn't really a problem, but I won't spend just to spend.

Better cams is great - that's one thing I plan to go aggressive with now that the car really has no need for street use other than driving to the track. I'm doing a head rebuild due to years of it being unhealthy, and I plan to put in nice cams at the same time.

1600 and 2000? Jayzus? I have some 1000s in there now for the E85, but if I need improved injectors for that type of performance, then I'll do that as well.

That's awesome...I love hearing it. Congrats to you on everything, and I hope to get my car running even better with all this new ECU-based stuff. I've never planned to swap out my stock ECU, so it sounds like I'm in great shape for the foreseeable future.

Btw, the ole MR only has 30k miles on it. Looks like I can keep the motor stock indefinitely now, too, based on what everyone is saying. I love it...
