1st outting... 12.6 in full street form

Well, on the way to Morossa Frank from SFP did a little street tune on my car... we set the boost to 18psi. pump 93 gas, no Nitrous, no alcohol and in full street setup.

Saturday night i didnt run the car which i should have but whatevers... Sunday morning I decided to run, and i did.

Everyone and their mother was stressing me about the launch and how im going to leave the transfercase in pieces so instead on launching like i would have liked, i slipped it slowly at about 5500.... the launch control isnt setup yet so i couldnt use it.

Anyways, i did two passes... the first i cut a .66 on the tree but a 2.2 on the 60'.... 1/4 was 13.1 on the qtr at 108mph.

Second pass i was a bit more agressive but strill pussyfooting with stuck clutch... oh yea, i feel asleep at the light this time .80 :-( oh well, improved my 60' to 1.8 and qtr ended at 12.6 @ 108mph again.

Take in to consideration... this is fulll street setup so i raced what i brung if you see me on the street thats what u get.. hahaha... there were many adventures on the way home but thats for another thread - but i gotta just say im starting to be happy with the car

i think I may be heading back to Morrosso this fri or sat to test and tune.... i want to improve my 60' and r/t.... also i shifted each gear at 7000 on the dot so maybe ill push each gear a little more.

Excellent job!!

If you learn to launch you could have ran that time stock.

Stock evo does not have enough power to break drivetrain parts, the clutch is made to be the first part to give.

People are dropping at 7k rpm with 500 HP and stage 3 clutch, and they do not break any drivetrain parts because they launch correctly.

Do not slip your clutch, it will just burn.

Dropping is not always bad. Things to consider are how much gas you give the car. You can be at 5k rpm with little gas behind it.

I recommend you drop at 3500-4500 rpms. If you drop and throttle it correctly you will NOT bog. For the noobs out there it is possible to launch at 3500 RPMS! I have replaced 1 clutch before and I believe the EVO clutch is fine. EVO drivers are not launching correctly. Slipping the clutch is the FASTEST way to a clutch replacement.

WARNING:
If you slip your clutch, it will burn and you will run a SLOW time.

If you drop your clutch, you will risk damage to your clutch but will not damage your clutch as much as slipping at high rpm will. Stock clutch is not strong enough to break drivetrain parts. The clutch will BREAK FIRST as MANY evo owners already know!

EXCEPTION TO THE DROP RULE:
If you drop your clutch with a stronger than stock stage 2+ clutch you will rick damage to your drivetrain.

Heres exactly how it goes:

I rev to 6000
Let it drop to 3500
rev again to 6000
let it drop to 3500
Step on the gas!
When the RPM needle passes 4000-5000 drop the clutch.

You may bog the first few times.

You cannot be wimpy about the gas or clutch.
Either launch or don't

Slipping the clutch is for people who cannot engage the clutch fast enough so they have to grind the clutch to move the car before the clutch properly engages.
