Those times do seem a litle slow, but the E8 is hauling a bit of weight. I have a EVO III in Australia. I ran it at the track some months ago. Mods at the time were hiflowed stock turbo, 3"dump into 2.5 " cat back, Blitz EBC set at 17 psi,and HKS pod filter. It also had 4 CRACKED PISTONS PUMPING OIL ALL OVER THE ENGINE DURING EACH RUN. The time was 12.7 @ 108 mph. 1.7 60ft. I have since rebuilt the engine using VR4 pistons (lower comp) and Rods(stronger than Evo). Just fitted massive FMIC and running 20 psi. Should be good for 12.0 now. EVO III only weigh 2770 lbs. which is over 300lbs lighter than the E8. It loves 6000rpm launches.

I agree completely... the car should have hit an 11 second run... i was talking to one of my buddies the other day and he showed me a very good point.

My car weighed 3500 on the scales at the track without me in it.
Also, the car is only running at 50% its' potential... most of you guys running same time on stock turbo and minor mods, i think are at your full potential... which is amazing and shows the potential of this car.

we havent even turned my shizzle up yet so... dont worry - mid Jan - ill be back at the track...
Running on 19" wheels and babying it out the hole made a world of difference... im very scared to break anything so...

so what you guys think... run it with stock wheels or keep pushing on the 19"s?

Morning,

What is the weight of your 19" Rims versus the stock ones. The lighter of the 2 rims is what you'll want to use. Also you might want to check into the air pressure a little and see what can be done. (I have an idea). Most people wish that they could run 12.6 on their best run. Those in the know understand that there is alot left in the car and that with the proper preparation, it's going to be alot faster.

yea i know the lighter is better... BUT.
my reasoning has been.... if i race in stock wheeels... then it isnt REAL. if you catch me on the street... ill be on the 19"s... i think its more respectable to race as is, as you see is as you get.

First of all, I'd say that's a fairly decent time for 19s. Of course, unless we get a mass distribution of the stock 17s vs the 19s it's not very easy to judge just how much they are slowing you down (I wouldn't be surprised if it's a significant number). (I guess it wouldn't be that hard to experimentally determine their relative inertia ... but either way it's kinda more work that its worth)

As far as I'm concerned ... you know you're within reach of 12.0 easily with a quick launch ... who cares if you prove it. You're not going to be rocking a full out launch on the street anyway, and doing it on the track only adds to the chance of frying your clutch or if dropping, your transfer case.

BTW from what I've heard from most people (with CarPhoto.net being one of the exceptions) a hard drop on the car is probably a _bad_ idea ... most suggest a very slight slip followed by a drop when the clutch grips. See: http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showth...threadid=50056 (yeah I know it's been posted before)

Nice job on the car

Nice time bro, regardless of what people say, I'll take a 12.6 anyday. Just keep it up on the tuning and the looking, your car is already the overall baddest EVO 8 on the planet.
