Clutch Preload 101 how-to
step one: pull up ebrake holding the button in so the ebrake does not lock on you Pull the ebrake up as far as you can..
step two: bring the clutch out till it BARELY starts to grab
step three: hit the 2step by going full throttle ***NOTE: stock ecu cars this will only work on 03-04 evo's since the 2step feature in via vehicle speed, 05-06 evos with stock ecu's won't work as the 2step switch is only with the clutch fully to the floor.. Unless it can be adjusted via vehicle speed through ecuflash for 05+ evo's
step four: release the ebrake
step five: release the clutch out completely the second you feel your car move.
Now, if you trying to do this on a single disc clutch, it won't work as well. You will burn the clutch up quicker. This pre-load method is more towards cars with twin or triple plate clutches as I have stated in the video and in here as well.

Dude, I've explained it as best as I could, not only in the video but here as well. I don't know of any other way of explaining this to you. Sorry man, not trying to be rude, but seriously (insert face palm gif here lol)
I'm not sure what your not understanding about the meaning of "barely". Bring the clutch out till it barely starts to grab with the e-brake up all the way to hold the car from moving. Bring it up on the 2step then release the e-brake, car will move, from there just let the clutch out and off you go.

Personally I don't feel like you need to pre-load a single disc organic clutch. 4 or 6 puck it works but not street disc.
Not sure why its so hard to grasp though but maybe thats cause I know how to do it lol.
Great write up btw!

I agree with you, single disc clutch you shouldn't need to pre-load as those disc are fairly soft on launches, they always slip a tad regardless what you do.
Just thought i'd bump the thread and add a little vid from some passes made last Sun.
I'll have a seperate thread w/ results from the race that turned into TNT day lol.
I had the front & rear seats out along with the carpet as i need to finish painting some parts of the cage but it worked nicely to be able to see my legs and all that goes on.
Since it turned into TNT i decidied to really practice on my launch technique and got into a nice rythm.
Here's 1 of the better launches (the shifts needed some work but weren't all that bad):
Hope this helps a little.........
