best street tires for drag racing?

Hey guys i've currently got nitto 555's all around on the enkei 8 wheels and stock size also. I am looking to maybe get my 60' down and i know its all driver but i was just curious the next time a tire change is needed should i stick with the 555 or go to something else? I know virtually everyone runs a different tire and i'm certainly not going to a drag radial as i DD the car. I've heard the advan ad08's are a nice tire. I am just looking for something maybe a but stickier than the 555's if they are out there and have a decent tread-life. Thanks for any input. Most of the threads i researched where involving auto X.

Try bfg-g force. There in the price range your looking at. They are a little more sticky than the 555s I'm currently running and a good street tire.

Nice man I appreciate the feedback. After I said that about the advan's I realized they were like $200 a tire lol I'll look into those.

I was going to suggest General UHPs for their relatively soft sidewalls, a grippy compound, and fairly low weight, but they seem to be discontinued. Sticky tires and long tread life don't really travel in pairs. For your application, you may want to look at something with similar properties as the UHP, unlike the Advans you mentioned that are better geared for cornering and not gaining the best 60'. This being said, I don't drag race, so take all this with a grain of salt. Good luck.

I'm not blaming all of the 60' on tires I'm sure it's mostly driver lol but hey it can't hurt. And if you cut 1.57 there's no reason I can't cut some mid low 1.6's on them. Is your car lowered or anything just curious?

Have you considered, perhaps, searching the Tire forum to see what makes for a good drag tire? Might be a good idea.

I have but all I hear is advan and other $200+ dollar tires which I don't want to fork out for a DD lol. And I didn't see much on tires in my price range and was curious if there was any input on it. I researched some before I posted

I can't recall anyone with any degree of expertise ever recommending Advans for drag racing. It's the wrong tire. I suggested looking into this, so that you understand the constraints you face and are able to choose intelligently.

And I didn't see much on tires in my price range...
Searching and reading helps. Like for real. It's for your own benefit.

For the price I really like the sound of the Hancock v2's above mentioned. Not saying I could duplicate a 1.57 but if it's been done on a similar set up why couldnt I cut some 1.6's in them hell maybe I can on the nitto's who knows lol. Just probably gonna run out of thread sometime in the fall and was open for ideas. I really appreciate the feedback on people's luck with their tires.

awesome man that is some impressive driving. That day was my only passes on the e85 set up and it was a whole new beast and only my second day with the 5 speed. Hopefully i can go back this fall when it cools down and post up some low 1.6's there's no way i should be running 11.7 trapping 121 mph lol. I put some tein springs on it to help the front from unloading as much as it was. But hopefully i get better results and will likely go with the hancooks when i run out of tire. Thanks for your 0.02! i appreciate it
