Why is my friend's cobra faster?

My friend has a 99 mustang cobra 5spd with boltons and turbo. I'm turboed as well 5spd and have moderate work done, yet the cobra is faster. We've raced 3 times at the local drag strip and he got me every time, usually by around half a car length to a car length. It really pisses me off lol. I always thought that our Evos were faster than any stang in stock form, so If we're equally modded, shouldn't I be faster? Do you think he's hiding nitrous somehow? I've never heard it purge and I haven't noticed it inside the car..

So what do you guys think is up with his car? I know barely anything about American v8 cars btw, and we never really talk about cars unless we're at the track since it usually ends up in an argument, so I haven't gotten any v8 knowledge from him lol.

It has to be NOS. There can't be any other reason that would explain this scenario. Driver skill, reaction time, tires, suspension, tune, engine work, weight reduction, none of that could possibly play into him beating you. The only answer is NOS.

On second thought, it might be any of those things I mentioned , and even if you were A LOT more specific about your cars, it would still be difficult to know exactly why you are getting beat.

You're not equally modified at all. You should get a Mustang.

Displacement
Turbo
Cams
Gearing

Tell Harry you need some NOS.

One of the big bottle's.

You know what....better make it two.

And tell him you need them by tonight.

Come on guys you don't have to flame me lol I'm just frustrated that I put a good amount of work into this car and it still loses to a Mustang. I would give more specifics on the cobra but I don't know much about it other than it's turboed and has boltons. I think it has gears too but not sure which ones.

Joking aside, the answers were already provided. My guess is that the first three are playing the biggest role
